I broadly agree with that but I think that most people are earnest and well meaning and are unaware of the innate hypocrisy of the simplistic framing of the issue by the left wing establishment.

Respectfully, I would be the polar opposite to that view. This topic was actually 5yrs dormant until Robert Krafts pre-occupation with a "meaningless, idiotic phrase", as you put it, brought global headlines as he and some of his pals threatened some 600,000+ ticket holders for Ed Sheeran concerts of their night of culture and music.

Totally over-the-top disproportionate reaction.

I can't say for certain but the subsequent withdrawal of other acts in solidarity with Macklemore for his free speech rights may have spurred additional pressure on the Irish players as they considered their positions on whether to play Israel or not.

It's weird, if people are not speaking out and marching the streets for one or other particular issues they are accused of not caring. If they do speak out about a particular and march the streets they are labelled as hypocrites and being one-sided.

Does not make sense to me.
