I was of the understanding that in order to fills gaps you needed to be in before that deadline or is that only relevant to gaps a long time in the past?

I do have one more question if you don't mind. There appears to be an online CF83 form process but I've seen most people talking about printing out the form and posting it registered.

Are these separate processes? If not, what is the benefit of posting the form?
 
I got a call from Newcastle in June where they confirmed my NI number and Telephone number and they said expect a call from a case worker to go through things. Three months later there's no contact. Anybody else in the same boat and is it just a case of being patient as they work through it? Alternative is to try calling them which if everybody does that will increase the delay for everyone.

Yes, I posted CF83 after I requested callback but with temporary number and then once I got a NI number I filled it in online as well. I'm hoping the phonecall allows them to match my contribution years when I had temporary NI number with my newly issued NI number. Sounds like its taking them a while to get to calling people which isnt that surprising
 
The CF83 & your NI number are all that matters.

If you've haven't heard back, I'd do a follow up call at this point. Make a cuppa, get your knitting or crossword & be prepared for a wait.
 
Got nice letter yesterday from Revenue inviting me to pay Class 2 contributions from 2006/07 right through to 2024/25 so 19 years (€3200ish) on top of the 3 qualifying years I already applied for when I worked in NI. Delighted with that as I was expecting to have to jump through lots of hoops to trace my initial contributions from my temporary insurance number back in 2001-3 and get them added to my new NI number that I received a few months ago. I'm guessing they are taking a view on the applications they are working on to see if they are reasonable. Just have to talk to them now about making the payment. I'm hoping I can do it by card or Revolut if possible. Only bit of pressure is that the letter was sent on 20 August and payment needed within 31 days of that date so it's pretty tight.

Follow the steps in post #4 in the above thread if you intend to pay by Revolut.
You must have the funds already in Sterling in Revolut to do it this way.

It worked seamlessly for many of us.

I sent in a postal application in March but it was using a temporary NI Number. I requested a call back as well as I had booked an appointment in Newry to try and see if they had a proper NI number. Two drives to Newry later I was issued with a new NI number in May and I sent in a new CF83 online and that seemed to do the trick. Received the letter yesterday saying I had 3 qualifying years and giving me the yearly Class 2 price for 19 years to 2025. Paid by Revolut today for the 19 years and have to check back in a month or so to make sure it's updated which seems quite soon compared to what I've heard here. Odd thing is that lady I was speaking to couldn't see the 3 qualifying years but mentioned they might not be showing as pre 2006. I'm assuming it'll be ok as I have the letter from Revenue stating I have the three years and I can prove I was employed for those three years. Even if I get the 19 and not the extra 3 I'll be happy enough as I'll keep paying each year until I get close enough to 35

Big well done and thanks to yourself especially and others on this thread for highlighting this and going through the steps. This started off as an "I'll give it a go" project for me late in the day. It wasn't that straightforward due to missing NI number but the benefit of basically an extra full pension is huge and well worth the bit of chasing and driving North I had to do. Definitely would have struggled to be motivated enough to do it without this site.
 
How did you book the appointment in Newry, as I understood all these offices are now closed to personal callers? Do you have an address for tjhis office, and its contact telephone number, please?

Did you have 3 full years? Also presume you had pay slips, P60's etc?

Worked in 3 calendar years. Not 3 full years but had taken up employment straight away in ROI which they seem to allow. Had P60s but only with temporary number. I had it all fairly well laid out with precise dates so they were either able to find my records, took my word for it or are going to come back looking for more proof but I don't think it's going to be the latter given they invited me to pay the contributions.
