For anybody with a Halifax Credit Card

It seems that Halifax will only offer selected customers a special rate in order to retain their custom... so do be aware of the fact that the only outcome from your call could be that your credit card account is closed!

    ICB Credit Rating Report

Just to point out that lenders are obliged to provide all data held but this does not extend to disclosing the reason for a credit decline - as this could undermine the security of the lender's credit scoring or decisioning systems. Credit is a privilege.. not a right...

I made an error on an IBAN transfer - how can I rectify matters?

I'm a bit surprised at the posts suggesting the Bank is somehow partly at fault here. The Bank simply acted on customer instructions. If my bank makes a mistake, I expect them to rectify it. If I make a mistake, I might contact the bank to see if anything can be done - but I certainly...

    Debenhams 'in store card'

Just a thought, but have you gone through any sort of complaints process with Debenhams/GE before going to the Regulator?

Transferring BOI Credit Card Balance to Halifax Credit Card

There's no way Halifax could find out the exact current balance on your BOI card - that's between you and BOI...

SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) day today at your bank - Are the Irish banks ready?

Re: SEPA day today at your bank - Are the Irish banks ready? They may, or may not, be ready - but regardless, I can't imagine it's ever going to be a service that the banks will actively promote - given the potential for Admin headaches and "issues" that will surely result.

    Halifax Credit Card €100 credit

They're already giving €100 just for taking out the card! Bit cheeky trying to get more, methinks, given that they seem to have sorted the problem out? And what is the Ombudsman going to do, given that a current dispute doesn't exist?

Switching from Halifax CC to Ulsterbank CC

All that happens with balance transfers is - e.g. in your case Ulster Bank sends the amount to be paid off the Halifax card to Halifax' payment account number and sort code, together with your card reference number. Halifax would then pick it up as any other credit card payment and process the...

Halifax Visa Debit Card - Beware of Issues

VISA debit is an internationally accepted card just like VISA credit, so these retailers are really backward if they can't accept it!

Halifax cc application - they're very slow.

Next contact will be via letter telling you either (1) You've been accepted, please send proof of ID so they can send your card or (2) Thanks but no thanks. Usually takes about 7 (working) days in my experience.

Using Personal Credit card for business purchases

They'll never know unless they have cause to look into your account closely. However, if you got into a dispute with them for whatever reason, and were found to be breaking their T&C's... who knows.

    mastercard in credit!

Lets take an example. I have a credit limit of €1000. I preload my credit card (for some reason) with an additional €1000, giving me available funds of €2000. If my card should be stolen or misused up to the limit of available funds, the Bank will reimburse me for the fraud to a maximum of...

    mastercard in credit!

Clubman, I've worked for 3 banks over the years, and it's always been the same - fraud cover etc. only up to the credit limit underwritten. Issuers can't prevent payments that would put a card into credit, but that doesn't mean that they like or encourage it. Again, not how the product is...

    mastercard in credit!

There will be an ATM withdrawal charge regardless of whether the account is in credit or not. No credit card issuer will cover a liability greater than the assigned credit limit. Credit cards are not designed to be put into a credit balance in this way, they are for borrowing/debit balances only.

1st April or 1st Jan for stamp duty tax on ATM cards, Debit cards and Credit Cards?

Re: 1st of April or 1st of January for tax on financial cards? Don't forget if you close a credit card now you'll be charged €40.00 on closure, for 2006-2007 stamp duty. But won't liable for 2007-2008 stamp duty in April 2008, as long as closed before 1 April 2007.

    Halifax credit cards

I got a Halifax card for the 0% BT offer, and the document requirements were no more than I had to provide for other financial products in the past. I think their call centres may be based overseas, but they've always been helpful when I've spoken to them. I guess I was just fortunate to get...
