Just a Little Reminder:- When some of you wrote Rep of Ireland off three games ago, ol' Lep was the only one stating this group is not finished yet - Hold on! We have to play a certain East European team yet which is anything but a gimmie. If we win that we'll have to face Denmark or N. Macedonia. But, I have no problem with you continuing to dream, but that's all it is at this stage - A Dream.
 
Great result for Munster over the weekend. Leinster were very underwhelming. Ulster were rubbish. Connaught were good against weak opposition. The game of the weekend were Glasgow Warriors against the mighty Toulouse, having gone 21 nil down at half time they came back to win 21 28. A remarkable achievement.
 
Athletics seems to be in a really good place in Ireland right now, great to see and it's also great to see so many thriving athletics clubs and societies around the place.
I would also like to give a mention to former Down GAA player Charlie Smyth who has not only earned a start in recent weeks for the New Orleans Saints but last night he kicked the winning score with seconds remaining. It might not be fully appreciated over here but it's a massive achievement to earn a start in a highly competitive environment.

Great stuff! He now needs to transition to the main team squad to get more game time and earn real NFL money. Delighted for him and a bit surprised rugby players aren't approached as they are more used to the oval-shaped ball

"Due to Smyth’s contractual status with the team, he cannot be elevated again from the practice squad to the main roster.

If Smyth is to feature against the New York Jets next weekend in the next game for the Saints, he will need to be signed to the 53-man roster, which will likely mean a significant pay rise for the 24-year-old."

In fact, by common consent, a very poor performance by Munster against the Gloucester reserves in Cork. Only three late, late tries against a 14 man opposition saved their faces. (Read any match report you wish, if you don't believe me!)

Leinster dogged it out, got the required win and, importantly, deprived Leicester of a LBP which could be very valuable.

In the minor cup comp. Ulster, with three really big games coming up in the URC over Christmas, fielded a very weak team and still managed to hold out until denied by a last second penalty kick, while Connacht did well after their dreadful meltdown in Wales last weekend.

Best games of the weekend (for me)

Toulon v Bath - an epic which would have been a fantastic final; (Munster need to travel to Toulon next month, which could be another epic)
Glasgow - Toulouse (although played in appalling weather, still a great win)
Stormers - La Rochelle (ROG fielded a lot of his kids and, although beaten well, they played their hearts out; I was very impressed)
Bordeaux - Scarlets (Scarlets were heroic against the Champions and really deserved to score the bonus point try).
Some of the other games were embarrassingly one sided due to away teams fielding very weak XVs.

The Christmas interpros are going to be very interesting this year, as Leinster certainly aren't the force that they have been for the past number of years.
 
Ireland vs Italy U20's from Cork bhoooy! Great game! We just about squeaked home and I think we deserved it. Edge of the seat stuff. The auld heart could do with an easier 80 minutes tomorrow.

Dramatic race in the Winter Olympics women's 4x 7.5kms cross country team relay with snow conditions leading to slips and slides. Phenomenal determination to keep going on one ski if necessary!
I wont list the winners in case people have it recorded.

Virgin Media One rugby match panel are driving me nuts!! "You know, you know, you know" Do these panellists get paid? If they do they're over paid, you know? Can they get a few talking heads who can string a few words together without the Tourettes-like "you know, you, know, you know" or "look, do you know what I mean?" occurring every few seconds. NILS POINTS Virgin Media One!, you know, look, listen, do you know what I mean?
 
GAA hurlers claim to be "the more hungrier" and the win is "unbelieveable" like. Add in "on-the-day" and loads of "You know!" and of course "the famine is over." I'm inclined to give Pete the benefit of the doubt, afterall he's as comfortable on a hand-tied panel as a fish out of water.
 
Great performance by the U20's against England tonight,Super victory and great to see the Mammies & Daddies and oldies but goldies in the stands. Well done lads!
