Sorry. It was the U 17 game that I was referring to...I can't believe that they conceded four goals in the second half..... considering it was such an even first half....

The draw is at midday, being shown on Virgin, I think.

I'd like to avoid Wales in the first game and Denmark in the second play off game!

Those teams in Pot 4 will be no pushovers for the Pot 1 teams; Romania, the North and Sweden are fairly good and a couple of those in Pot 1 are no world beaters.
 
We've been drawn away to the bouncing Czechs! (Biggest stadium capacity is about 21k - there'll be a MAD scramble for tickets!)

If we win that one we'll be home to Denmark or North Macedonia.

It's an away game first but it could have been Italy or Poland :rolleyes: . The home game has to be the motivation.... :)

Czechia away is as good as it could have been, in the first game.

Denmark are a fine team, but they won’t relish coming to Dublin. Sometimes we’re better playing teams a good better than us, where we can set up not having to attack. A bit like the Portugal game.

Despite the result, Denmark were superior to Scotland for long spells, even with 10 players. Hopefully, we can get past Czechia and have the Danes at home.

It would be good to see what the manager would do, if both Ferguson and Parrot are available; the team seems to be a really good united bunch, which was a hallmark of some of our best days.

The North are a bit unlucky getting landed with Italy away and then Wales in Cardiff, if they beat Italy.
 
The playoff game against Czechia is not a gimme for the Rep of Ireland. Czechia won 5 games, lost 2 and drew 1 in their group games - with Croatia topping the qualifying table while Montenegro, Gibraltar and Faroe Islands being the also rans. Consequently, Czechia is a relatively unknown quantity and to be honest I don't know what to expect. But, we're still alive in the competition, let's look forward to it. I'm not thinking beyond this game until it's over.
 
Exactly. You can't think beyond this game. Although I would prefer Czechia to Italy anytime.
It's no easy game but we have to beat the best if we are going to get there.. fingers crossed..

They have quite a strong domestic league with a couple of decent teams playing in European competition. So definitely, it won't be easy but could have been worse.

Delighted that Evan Ferguson has got on the scoresheet, at last, in Italy this weekend.
