Taking need for consent too far

2005 I think. She was 32 then.
QED.
2004, in response to his characterisation of the relationship as her pursuing him. I'm not sure what that demonstrates, other than showing that over 20 years later most people have moved on in their understanding of what is appropriate behaviour.

It shows that your reference to this case has no relevance this thread.

We can keep going forever on this. Show me where Monica raised an issue about consent .
"in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot, although power imbalances – and the ability to abuse them – do exist even when the sex has been consensual," - Monica Lewinsky, Vanity Fair, 2018.

Real life is nuanced and complex. That most people know instinctively is that we should be guided by moral values that are informed by empathy and compassion, not just laws. That's what the ongoing discussion around consent is about.

In fairness, given all the debate it's stirred, the ad was probably good value for money. Without the controversy, the ad would now be forgotten.
I'd say the teenage girl in particular is welcoming the huge publicity, albeit she never consented to it. I wouldn't be surprised to see her on the Late Late Show.
It hasn't done the DRCC any good, that's for sure. It has certainly highlighted the issue of "consent" but from the DRCC's perspective in a negative way. By that I mean that the Ad has made a great number of folk, perhaps a large majority, ask, as I suggest in the OP, 'can the need for "consent" be taken too far?'

'can the need for "consent" be taken too far?'
It is an interesting question. If you take sports, I've seen many parents trying to live their sporting dreams through their children, when the child doesn't seem too interested. I've seen a swimming coach have to tell the parent of a child that the child clearly wasn't interested in swimming. The parent insisted they were. Coach had realised child would fake injuries to get out.

Three of my children swam because their mother wanted them to. They competed at a national level. None of them will go near a swimming pool now. It's a dreadful sport with dreadful parents. Two of them were coached by a man who is now in prison for recording students in the changing room. In hindsight I'd have preferred if they sat at home and played computer games or watch porn.
