ROS / MyEnquiries – anyone seeing serious delays?

It should state on the SOL (Statement of Liability) for the year in which the underpayment occurred, exactly how and when the underpayment will be collected, in the corresponding years and the amount for each year.
Revenue also tend to issue a second tax credit certificate in late February, for current year, to potentially update any changes/adjustments to be made to the one they previously issued in December of the previous year.
It might be worthwhile checking my account/ROS on Revenue, as while they advise you of the TCC issued in December 2025, they appear not to send notifications for any subsequent new Tax Credit Certificates thereafter.
Great, Thanks, noted!

I'll check it out

Appreciate the reply and Information

@Itchy the MyEnquiries repsonses on the service delivery reports dont make sense in my opinion or at least require further explanation. Every quarter revenue relesase figures of how many MyEnquiries received and how many responded to, but each quarter revenue report that they respond to more enquiries than they receive??? That makes no sense!

@ClubMan but each quater Revenue have responded to more enquiries than they've received since they first started reporting the figures in 2025.

Revenue only provided the number of enquiries received in Q1 2025 but I doubt they responded to an extra 400,000 enquries in that period. In any event, if they're consistently repsonding to more enquiries than they are receiving at some stage they have to clear the back log - but 12 months on and there is still an excess???

I wonder could it have to do with when you submit your query, and they respond more than once in the same thread.

If their response doesn't answer the question fully (or at all!) there is a box at the bottom called "Enquiry Details" where you can input a follow up question, to which they will then respond in due course. Effectively it's a very slow motion whattsap chat. I wonder is that classed as a single enquiry, but this may have multiple responses. I've had a few separate "Enquiries" submitted, this year, and each of these contained multiple responses over and back, as the quality of the responses from Revenue has been so poor of late....

I submitted my paye income tax return through myaccount 4 weeks ago, a relatively basic return with a few dividends, remote working relief and AVC payments, and still no statement of liability.

Anybody else get the SOL yet?

1. My current query on 'my enquires' got a response after 2 months
2. My sibling was able to sort out his LPT on the telephone in about a week or two. It took a few calls, then a couple of payments (sorting out one property into units) then a couple of payments, then a call and then paid the minor penalties.

Revenue got rid of their call centre, it was useless anyway as they people on there were not revenue and only had restricted access to revenue, so it ended up with revenue anyway, but just with extra steps and time consumption. Also the revenue people speak English property. (ie you can understand them)

I submitted health expenses and foreign interest on 2nd Jan. Got my SoL around 1st Feb.

On 2nd Jan I also applied for an amendment to my 2026 tax credits - the tax credit certificate wasn't showing all credits due. A revised certificate was issued this week, so I looked forward to a (small) rebate via my pension.

Turns out that my employer had the correct tax credit figures for me from the end of December - only my certificate was incorrect, it seems. Never saw that before.

I'm aware that there were no changes to tax credit bands in the last budget, other allowances due to me meant that my 2026 credits were higher than 2025.

I didn't think that employers were supposed to do that and were obliged to adhere to what Revenue inform them regarding your tax bands/credits?

@ClubMan, that's what surprised me.

I can only assume that revenue sent the correct details to my employer, but sent me an incorrect tax certificate. I wonder what might have happened had I not applied for a new certificate this year - the 2026 SoL might have been a messy one....

Anyway, it's all sorted now for another 12 months!

Yes Revenue can and do send a RPN (Revenue Payroll Notification) to the employer without sending a revised Tax Credit Certificate to the Employee simultaneously, however employee will get new TCC eventually

Yes we completed our returns on 17th January, and our SOL was in our documents, dated 23rd January, but the ROS mail notification only arrived to us by email on the 30th January. Just keep checking the Revenue account daily, as notifications appear to be arriving later than the SOL is dated.
Added: Went into my account on Revenue on Wednesday to see the latest payroll submission request by employer, only to discover a new document was in, it was a new 2026 tax credit certificate, with no changes to the original one previously issued in December 2025 for tax year 2026.

Very similar to you - submitted mine online the evening of 20th January. Form 12 PAYE + Some dividends, some health expenses + bank deposit interest. No word yet.

My accountant told me there is an issue, for people over a certain age, I think it’s over age 65 and something to do with pension.

This perhaps?

Christ, your a genius!!! (completely forgot!! , its on my friends cert

I have the same issue. Must have a look if this was the situation. I would much prefer to pay a bill or if they would take it off my tax return?

Wouldn’t that be standard?

In my experience they usually reduce your credits over one or more years to recover an underpayment but maybe if it's larger than a few hundred/thousand they might look for some or all of it up front.
