Age Tax Credit not being calculated

I have entered my date of birth and my wife's date of birth on Form 11, but the Age Tax Credit is calculated as zero

If I enter the credit as 490, it gets deleted and doesn't get carried through to the calculation page

I have deleted and re-entered the DOB so not sure what to do next other than contact Revenue

We are both well past the 65 years old (fortunately or unfortunately, take your pick)

Anyone with a similar problem ?

I noticed the age tax credit was automatically added to my tax certificate for 2026 (first year I'm eligible for it ) - perhaps the DoB must be drawn from elsewhere and isn't accepted as a manual entry?

Yes same here.
I tried entering a larger amount than 490.
Message comes up stating it can't be more than 490.
Enter 490 and it gets deleted.

Another age related problem on form 11.

Both my spouse and I are being charged Prsi on form 11.
Both in receipt of COAP.
The Prsi is calculated on all unearned income.
(Bank interest and share dividends)

Can you tick the exempt from PRSI box at the start?

Just for curiosity, I ticked the PRSI exempt box and the Prsi charges are removed.

But I am not actually Prsi exempt. I am liable to class M.
This is Zero rated but this must be included in my pension, ARF, and unearned income.

My pension and ARF payment slips state Prsi exempt - No

On 2024 form 11, no Prsi was charged without ticking the Prsi exempt box. There must be an error on the 2025 form 11.

P.s. I have gone back into my 2024 form 11 as an amendment and Prsi was now deducted. The print out of my submitted 2024 form 11 shows no Prsi exempt box ticked and no Prsi deducted.

There must have been a later update to the 2024 form 11 requiring the Prsi exempt box to be ticked.

I submitted my form 11 a week ago, having accepted Revenue's calculations and subsequently received the initial acknowledgment message. I received a notice of amended assessment the following day with a total due approx €500 greater than my submission. Contacted Revenue and when I eventually got to speak to someone was told that there is "a glitch" in the Form 11 that causes the Age Credit (€490) not to transfer over (to the main system) when the Form 11 is processed, and that the processing staff are unable to correct this manually. Apparently it could take a few weeks for Revenue's IT Helpdesk to correctly apply the Age Tax Credit and allow processing to continue.

Unbelievable messing.
This €490 has not been changed for years.
No adjustment to form 11 was necessary.
Is the glitch really a new stealth tax.
Most elderly taxpayers might not notice the extra taxation.

I also reported using form 11 last year and the age credit worked without any problems - the €490 transferred over from the Form 11 which I input to the final assessment without any difficulty.

Your point about “Most elderly taxpayers might not notice the extra taxation” is well made. I wasn’t sure about the reason behind the change when I received the notice of amended assessment and spent quite some time isolating the issue. At first I assumed that revenue were correct and my efforts to find the reason for the change were to find where I had gone wrong so that I wouldn’t make the same mistake next year. Even when I did narrow it down to the Age Credit, I assumed that Revenue were correct and there was some legitimate reason for its removal.

One of the things that makes it really difficult to reconcile figures is Revenue’s practice of sequencing the figures in a totally different manner on the various screens and documents. It’s very poor practice and seems like an almost deliberate effort to confuse.

And the Revenue cs agent was delightfully vague about when the issue would be resolved. Apparently it has to go to an internal helpdesk (in IT) and “sometimes they can be quick but more often it can take a while……..”

Yes, very few people would challenge Revenue that it was their mistake.

People tend to be afraid of government agencies.

My sister was claiming Jobseekers credits for a short while.
She then took up a full time university course as a mature student.

About six months ago she got a letter from DSP stating that her credits were terminated as she was not allowed, as a full time student, to be a Jobseeker. It also stated that she would have to repay any Jobseekers payments. She had not received any payments.

She perceived this letter as a dressing down for breaking official rules, when in fact it was basically a DSP notification letter.

I was unaware of this letter. She reached age 65 late last year.
I phoned her to check that her BP 65 payments had started.

She told me she was not applying as she was in fear of breaking another DSP rule. I told her that she was fully entitled to the BP 65 payments as they did not require her to be seeking employment and that being a student did not disqualify her.

It took a bit of persuading to get her to apply.

Two days later she told me her payments had started.

Fear of officialdom could have cost her dearly.

Fear of officialdom and lack of knowledge must be resulting in a lot of people not receiving benefits and overpaying tax.

I filed my Form 11 this week. The age credit was working on that and my tax liability was as i expected.
I got ROS's ITSA Assessment today and it omits the age credit, and tax due is 245 higher.
From the above, I trust that will be sorted in due course but will send a message also.
