RIP Thread for Notable People

I enjoyed him in the Clinic, The Guard and Banshees of Inisherin. Read today that he was hoping to get away from always playing the cop parts and was hoping to do more comedy. It is very sad as he was still quite young.

Former Bosco presenter Gráinne Uí Mhaitiú dies aged 72

The Bosco presenters were honorary aunts and uncles to generations of Irish children. Hard to believe they're no long 20-somethings knocking on the magic door in dungarees.

Media mogul Ted Turner, who pioneered the modern 24-hour news culture when he launched the CNN channel, has died at the age of 87, the network has announced. Turner launched Cable News Network as the first dedicated rolling news channel, in 1980, which soon became a central part of the media landscape.

Absolutely a giant if the game. I always enjoyed watching him play , on TV , .
RIP Fergus.

Bobby Tambling former footballer with England and Chelsea died 3rd June 2026. He gave up football in his prime back in the 1960's to further his religious beliefs. He lived in Crosshaven just outside Cork. A legend in his sporting days. RIP.

Bobby must have had change of heart Leper , he played with Cork Celtic , Waterford, Shamrock Rovers in the 70’s and finished with Cork Alberts in 1978-79.
Playing with Rovers in particular risks flirting with the Devil !

US director and television creator James Burrows, who worked behind the scenes on "Friends," "Cheers," "Taxi," and many other beloved comedies, has died, People magazine has reported. He was 85.

I see music mogul and star-maker Clive Davis has died at the age of 94. Arguably the best-known record executive in music history - he was incredibly successful with a huge range of artists - from Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash to Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys. Not bad for a guy who once confessed, "I knew nothing about music."

(*And it's probably not a coincidence that all three of those recently posted in this thread are Jewish. I've long been fascinated by the fact that they're way over-represented in the music, film and TV business.)

RIP Paul Clancy ....Two time all Ireland winner with Galway ....only 49 years old...
