Advanzia Bank Lux Promo Rates

I saw that deal, opened an account yesterday, sent €1 to test it out. Nothing received in the account. Not a great start.
I’ve made a number of transfers to Advanzia. They all landed next business day. It might take two days, depending on the time you initiate the transfer. You should get an e-mail from Advanzia confirming receipt for the funds.

It’s amazing how quickly we have come to expect SEPA Instant as the norm. The 24+ hour delay that we lived with for so long appears Dickensian at this stage. And the warning messages you get because of the absence of Verification of Payee wnhen initiating the transfer are also quite disconcerting. Hopefully the SEPA instant rules will be tightened at some point to prevent the likes of Advanzia, Raisin (outbound), MoCo, etc opting out.

Do they typically increase the promo rate for existing customers who opened their account in the past 3 months, or does everyone have their own promo rate?
As @Lightning said it is quite inconsistent and difficult to guess at the rules the use to decide whether or not to extend an offer. I opened my Advanzia account in March and the promo rate was due to expire on 30/6. I received an offer by e-mail on 28/5 extending the promo rate to 30/9. No idea why they sent it over a month before expiry, but I’m not complaining. Just frustrated that I can’t easily avail of the new higher rate !

Advanzia does not support SEPA instant payments. Presumably for technical reasons.

SEPA Instant is mandated for “payment accounts” such as current accounts. Some deposit accounts do and others do not fall within the scope of the regulations. For example when I queried this with Raisin in relation to my raisin Transaction Account I got the following response:

However, the Raisin account you hold does not qualify as a payment account within the meaning of the law. It is a dedicated settlement account used exclusively for the management and processing of your investment transactions via the Raisin platform. This account does not participate in general payment transactions. For this reason, there is no legal obligation for Raisin accounts to offer instant payment functionality.

In fairness, Raisin have implemented SEPA Instant for inbound transactions, but not outbound. I suspect the primary reason for banks to avoid implementing SEPA Instant where they can is implementation cost, compounded by scarcity of development resources, security and fraud concerns and platform constraints.

Hopefully the SEPA Instant regulations will be reviewed in the light of post implementation experience and tightened to bring more of these accounts into scope.

This will only be useful to anyone who set up account when the old rate (3.51%) was in play, but hadn't transferred the €5000. The rate is determined at the date you transfer €5000 plus.

"Good news for you! We have increased the interest rate for new customers to 3.97% p.a. effective (3.90% p.a. nominal)! If you deposit at least EUR 5,000 into your existing savings account by 30 June 2026, you will secure this attractive interest rate until 30/09/2026 – applicable to your entire balance.

If you have already deposited the minimum amount of EUR 5,000, this attractive interest rate will of course apply retroactively from the date of deposit. Take advantage of this opportunity today and make your savings work harder for you! As usual, you will see the interest rate on your next account statement."

Yeah, the date is the initial 5k determines the applicable promo offer, not the account opening date.

How long does it usually take for the account to be opened? I sent all my details yesterday and even though it was a Sunday I would have expected it to be live by close of business today but haven’t heard back.

It can take a few days. You can phone Advanzia on +352263875675 and they can sometimes progress the application over the phone.

See Advanzia have a current promo offer of 3.97% pa for 3 months for minimum of €5000 - seems very appealing.

Is there any reason why Advanzia doesn’t appear on the CCPC money tool or is it on Ireland’s Central Bank list of approved institutions?

How safe / secure is Advanzia as a bank ?

The CCPC deposit comparison is missing a huge number of options. The CCPC comparison is not comprehensive at all.

Advanzia are a Luxembourg regulated bank, 100k protected.

First time poster here. I have had an Advanzia deposit account for several years and have accessed it via the customer web portal without issue many times including up to last month. In the last 2 weeks when I try to login, my eir mobile does not receive the one time password sent as a 2nd factor of authentication. I called the Avdanzia English language support line who have checked everything and all the details appear to be unchanged.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
