    Tesco Credit Card

I applied in April, finally got it today... I sent wrong documentation twice, so I'm partially to blame, but they are in no hurry to get back to you when theres a problem. I knew they had no online banking, but thought there was a telephone banking number for balance checking - can't find a...

Electrical First Fix on New Build - Advice!

Get a new electrician... Heres another idea for you...I put 3 double sockets under my computer desk connected to a Kill switch above the desk, so at night I can turn the 3 double sockets off with the one switch without having to go under the desk. I also have another double not on the kill...

difference between PVC kitchen & painted solid wood?

I don't think PVC doors will stand the test of time. In a renting house we had once, if peeled around the cooker with the heat, and generally looked poor. A least a painted wood one can be touched up down the line if necessary. If there is that much of a price difference in your quotes, I...

    swtiching Credit Card

Will do. I was planning on cancelling my old BOI credit card and using the Halifax card, but now I think I'll just keep the two, and not bother using the Halifax til it's functioning online. Even with the €30 tax, I'm still up €70...:D

    swtiching Credit Card

Re: switching Credit Card Guy I spoke to yesterday in Halifax said they are working on it as we speak, should be up and running in a few months  I hope so, or I'll be cancelling the card. BTW can I keep my free €100 they've just credited to my card?

    swtiching Credit Card

Re: switching Credit Card AFAIK if Halifax do charge you the €30, they will refund it. On a side note, I've just realised today that the Halifax CC Online banking is a joke. You get to see your balance from the previous month and nothing else.

Self Build - Where to put Water pipes?

Well we clipped our insulated pipes to the subfloor, cut a layer of 40mm Xtratherm around these, and then put a layer of 60mm xtratherm over this, so no gaps. The only chasing of the subfloor might be where you have two runs of pipe crossing each other, dish out the subfloor for this.

Punctured holes in DPM; How much of a problem

I'm afraid this won't work, as the UFH pipes will be clipped to the insulation, puncturing the DPM again.

    Tiny white insects

Brings back memories of two years ago when we moved into our newly built house, we had them too... Thanks to askaboutmoney or boards I discovered they were Booklice a.k.a. psocids. They are totally harmless, and they did disappear after a few months. It sounds like you don't have it too bad, we...

    Halifax Current Account

Re: Best Value Current Accounts (Personal Banking) It's nice to see some interest coming into your current account... might be small and subject to DIRT, but still good to see. Only fault I have with the Debit card is not all shops take them (e.g. Aldi) and most shops don't offer cashback...

Best colour stain for decking rail??

Just checked my tin, it's actually Cuprinol, but same thing anyways. But i think it's only 35 euro a 5l tin in woodies at the mo. I will need three a year :eek:to treat all the timberwork we have outside. So will be purchasing in advance when the sales are on.

Best colour stain for decking rail??

I would recommend using a Decking Oil, I've used the Decking Oil from Ronseal in a Golden Oak Colour, and we think it's a nice colour. You do need to reapply it once a year, but it's extremely easy to apply with a brush. Woodies stock it in 2.5l and 5 l.

    Blinds - Venetian 25mm or 16mm Slats

I use the Aldi fluffy dusters to clean mine. Close them completely, run the duster down the face of the blind, (cleaning half of the slats), close the blind the other way and get someone to pull the blind away from the window, and run the duster down the inside of the blind. (cleaning the...
