Can you cancel a policy midway thru' the year or once you commit you're stuck ? I started a policy in January individually but I may have a job that offers to pay thru' their scheme which is with a different company. I presume a common enough situation.
If you have a refund due for a year can you just put zero preliminary for the following year ? Currently I will owe no tax for 2024 but that could change or should I wait till nearer October to file the form ?
I have paid my ESPP tax thru payroll for 2022 and am registered for Form 11. The taxable amount used by payroll is about €100 higher than the gain (x2) I made after selling, wiring and Foreign Exchange costs. I don't see anywhere obvious on the Form 11 to amend this to allow for the cost of...
Does anyone use Vodafone Mobile (Fibre not available yet apparently) for streaming live TV in the Dublin region ? Just wondering is it fast and reliable enough for live stream ? I need to cut ties with VM at this stage with their constant rises.
A friend is being made redundant and is getting about 40k ex-gratia with roughly 20k tax free. He will get paid notice so will get 2 months pay this year which is also taxable, so lets say 15k there as well so his taxable pay from employment will be circa 15 + 20 = 35k.
He also gets 15k taxable...
I amended a form 11 and now I am owed a small refund from previous year and paid the original same figure as last year as preliminary tax. When I signed it, it directed me to make a new payment but I just clicked on the file only for now as I'm not sure what happens to the original one I made...
Is there a specific insurance a landlord can get to cover this ? I presume the block insurance is cover for building structure and if a tenant floods from the top floor to bottom they would not be covered and liable for the repairs and replace ? I checked the standard landlord insurance and it...
So, working from home on my dining room (and only) table, I have a few monitors and in order to get them to the right height I shove a couple of shoeboxes and books under them to get them to the right height. I don't have access to shed/back garden and general tools so building my own is not an...
They say the take a debit card but how does the deposit be accounted for should you 'lose' a bike ? I always used a Credit Card before but just wondering do they put a stop on 150 euro somehow ?
Surely this is a misprint or have Italy totally eradicated the disease ?

I want to go over to check on a relative (mental health issue in the past) and stay one night in a hotel. The one I booked got back and stated I would need to prove I was an essential worker by producing documentation. As you can imagine this is not something I can supply. Did anyone have...
When I try to change the booking they are asking a further €50 to change the return part as it's officially not cancelled as of yet. Has anyone held out and rebooked after the dates in question ?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but looking at the form you get the option of cash, debit card or cheque when applying first time out. How do people buy 50k worth first time around ? Do they just transfer all into one account and give that account ? Can you add a few tranches together over a...
I just noticed the receipt I got from revenue has the numbers in the wrong way around. Assuming I must have put the numbers in the wrong way around do I need to contact revenue I wonder. Basically 2018 had more expenses than this year so the liability was smaller. I paid more prelim tax for next...
So the scenario is that I made a loss in 17 but a profit in 18 and no prelim tax paid as 17 was a form 12. Maybe giving simple figures for example
Loss in 17 = 1k before Capital allowances and 1.5 after
Profit in 18 is 8k before and 7.5k after
What do I put into form 11 for loss from previous...
So I registered for Income tax and I have now seen in the Registration options tab that I am registered - well it now states 'Cease Registration' instead or 'Renew registration. When I go into complete tax form and hit form 11 I still only get years up to 2015 rather than 2018. Anyone know is...
So my deeds will soon be sent to me by my bank for an apartment once mortgage is cleared. Are these as important as house deeds given that they come with a 500 year lease and do not constitute the 'land' of the individual apartment ? Are some or any difficult to replace if lost/burnt ?
I registered for ROS and got the certificate thingy. I then logged in but when I try to complete a form 11 for 2018 the only options I get are up to 2015 - it's a drop down menu so casn't enter text. I went into tax for up to 2018 and it allows me to fill in a form 12 but I have more than 5k to...
I get these now and again and notice the price steadily creeping towards a tenner but I was charged 13 euro this morning in Dublin city centre. I queried the price and was told they went up twice in the last 6 months. I am going to check around but is this price gauging by pharmacists everywhere...
