Peckham, I've had a similar problem. I was approved by letter as Class 2 payments. When I log in online it still shows my payable gaps at Class 3 rate.I made a payment in February for the years between 2014 and 2021, and rang HMRC to tell them which years to allocate it to.
When checking online recently I noticed that the 2024/25 year was showing as fully paid, but none of the years I requested.
Rang them on Friday and was all correctly allocated today.
The guy I spoke to also said I'll have to pay a slightly higher rate for 2021/22 and 2022/23. Only an extra 20 quid or so per year - 182 pounds whereas my original letter from them in 2024 had these years at 158.60 pounds and 163.80 pounds respectively.
It's 179.40 for each of 2023/24 and 2024/25.
This has been answered a dozen times. The online system takes longer to update. Go by the letter you were sent.letter as Class 2 payments. When I log in online it still shows my payable gaps at Class 3
