Key Post UK State Pension - Make voluntary contributions to qualify for UK pension on top of Irish pension

Peckham, I've had a similar problem. I was approved by letter as Class 2 payments. When I log in online it still shows my payable gaps at Class 3 rate.
I phoned the pension service and they confirmed Ishould just transfer the amounts quoted in the Class 2 letter.
I made a transfer to cover the last 10 years but the online system simply allocated all the money to cover the two most recent years - at the Class 3 rate!

I now have from 2014-2022 showing as unpaid gaps and satying no longer possible to pay.
I tried phoning them but couldn't get a straight answer out of anyone.
Were you able to get someone to help you out on the phone?

I rang HMRC this morning at 9.30 am. I got through to a human in 5 mins which I surprised about. There is still an error in my online record. I paid for Class 2 18 years in March 25 from 2006 to 2024 the exact amount in sterling quoted on my letter. However my record still shows that I have gaps in random years, 2006, 2012 and 2013. I have no idea why this has happened and it seems to be very random. My call was forwarded to 2 other individuals and having been put on hold for 20 mins by one of them I was told they would send the issue onto my international case worker. I was disappointed that no one could explain it or resolve it. The number I called was 00441912037010.

This has been answered a dozen times. The online system takes longer to update. Go by the letter you were sent.
Thanks DannyBoyD, apologies I couldn't find the similar previous instances.
So for other people it has happened to, has it just resolved itself automatically or did they need to request it in some way?

I did
But reading today it will be paid and the UK revenue will claim the tax back on it, if you are not entitled to it.
How that will work in Ireland remains to be seen.

So, I got my Government Gateway user ID and checked my state pension and, as expected (since I missed the deadline), I can "only" pay back for the last 6 years and it would cost me £907.40 or £923 per year.

However, I get the feeling that this corresponds to class 3 voluntary contributions and that I might be eligible to pay class 2 voluntary contributions instead (i.e. £3.45 or £3.50 per week or £179.40 or £182 per year) since I live and work outside of the UK?

In other words, I should apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions when abroad (i.e. fill out form CF83) to find out whether I am eligible to pay class 2 voluntary contributions.

Is that all correct?

Ok, I assumed that I was all correct and submitted my CF83 online. Apparently, I can expect a reply by 6 August. Must be because I live in New Zealand, so it takes time to arrive here.
