Key Post Step by step guide to applying for UK State Pension

There is a fully online version which means you do not need to print off anything it goes through online and they are quicker to process the online version.

Is it worth filling out the form again and applying for juvenile years at 16,17,18? Seems some people managed to get 3 years class 2 included whether in UK or not at the time?

Hello, I paid for the years back to 2006 and it was processed by HMRC. This was on a Class 2 basis.
All the years are showing as 'Full Year' except for a random year (2021-2022) which is showing as 'Year is not full' and the detail shows that a payment of £956.80 is due. Hopefully just an error on their side, so I'll phone them next week...
Has this happened anyone else?

Yes. I'm certain it reverts to class 3 online. Give them a call and they will either tell you how much it is over the phone or they said a letter

I left UK with 3 years of NI contributions in 2025-2026 tax year, unfortunately was initially declined for voluntary contributions from 2026-2027 as the new rules had kicked in.

However, I have appealed on the point that I finalised my UK tax affairs with HMRC in August 2025, in which they refunded tax contributions to me (pro rata), and my tax summary was issued in Sept 2025. I then applied to pay voluntary NICs in December 2025. My point is that my application and my NIC qualification occured prior to 5th April 2026 so I should have been processed under the 3 year rule (as HMRC had finalised my 2025-2026 tax status earlier).

The assessment of my appeal should come in December - likely to be turned down but it's an interesting point, given my application was prior to 5th April 2026 and could have been assessed prior (given my tax status was finalised) to that date.
