New AIB Mobile app on the way

They're doing the Dance of the Seven App Releases with me, teasing all the way, but no denouement. Another announcement on the phone by internal app message yesterday. I'm on iOS 26.6.1, App v 4.83.2 There was a security update to the app 10 days or so ago, but it didn't seem to change the version number.

Me suspenders is killin' me. :)

Digital banks like Revolut vs traditional banks like AIB or BOI reminds me of Ryanair vs the European Flag carriers.
We're all supposed to get excited because soon you'll get a clunkier/crippled version of what the digital banks have offered since day 1.
Since the bailout and being punished with high interest on my mortgage afterwards to help save the bank I have zero loyalty to AIB.
However having heard a horror story on Liveline of a Revolut customer who's account was frozen that a phone call with a human should have sorted, I'm afraid to ditch AIB entirely.

Revolut and AIB are far from the only options...

Thanks Clubman
Interesting that EBS are the best value option in Ireland.
Unless I am wrong, the only thing they lack is a mobile phone app, they have internet banking.
Interesting too that they are a subsidiary of AIB.
All of which suggests to me that AIB customers are effectively paying €72 a year for a mobile phone app.

Atrocious app. Spamming me every day with a Tile wanting me to use Zippay to pay my friends, a tile that can't be removed.

"Insights" - has anyone looked at this laughable "feature"? I transferred a significant sum to another bank during the week, and the "insights" told me, including 1980s bar graphs, that my spending had increased by a couple of thousand % this week. Transfers to other banks are included in spending, under another tab.

Typing in the 5 digit code (yikes, this seems all wrong, I was happier having to type the 8 digits, and THEN the 5 digits, I must remember to change this to passcode or biometrics, assuming that is possible), is slower now as it's full screen and you can't type 5 digits quickly, each one needs to "take effect", if you understand what I mean.

Awful. Do I sound like I don't like it?

Series of issues already and only 'received' new app 2 days ago. Facial recognition no longer available on new App for login - visit to brance confirmed same and judging by the reaction of the assistant in branch they are inundated with a series of complaints. I am now unable to login using my Macbook to the AIB site as the new app has corrupted my iphone 16 so account verification was not possible. This is unreal - the new app is so corrupted that it is shutting down access. These are the serious problems - the app itself is a 'bling' exercise' with much slower modality and far less actual 'banking' process available. I am both a business and personal client for 50 odd years.

Anyone else finding that lodgement notifications are no longer working on Android? App settings have notifications enabled and phone is set in the app as the primary device.

I installed App version 26.8.44 on iOS 26.7 earlier in the week on my iPhone 15 ProMax. I had to use my PAC for the initial login but since setting up a passkey (facial recognition in my case) either has worked flawlessly so far.

I have accessed my account via Safari Version 27 on macOS Golden Gate 27 installed today on a spare SSD, and Safari Version 26.6.2 (21624.5.1.11.3) on macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 (25G83) paying a couple of shop bills by card and getting a SEPA instant payment without problem. An Apple D/D was taken successfully for €2.99. I'll be the first to admit its not amazon in terms of transaction volumes, but it works. The transaction icons are pretty too and I'll look at the budgeting later.

All good so far, touch wood on 3 different setups. :)

I dont like the new app either. Cant logon with Face ID. Cant see payments coming due easily. Horrible layout. Useless features. Bring back the old App which while crap was at least functional and easy to navigate.

Two annoying UI issues:

The entire app isn't visible in portrait mode and you must scroll sideways from the edge of the screen, which means the bit you could see disappears off, stage left. Turning the screen into landscape mode does nothing - very annoying and vey poor design.

To get to the logout button you must touch the dark bluey-purple button emblazoned with your initials in white on the top-left of the first transaction screen you're presented with - yes, it is a button. This will take you to a navigation screen with logout at the bottom, if you care to scroll down- again, very annoying and vey poor design.

Seems to be some conflicting information here?

Face-id works perfectly for me.

Well, this made me look and I notice two things which I'm not happy about. Firstly, they have the wrong initials for me, and secondly the app doesn't automatically log out when you move to another app for more than a few seconds, like every other banking app.

It also took me a while to notice the logout button which doesn't look like a button
