Electric Ireland renewal

Fixed rate means a fixed unit rate that will not change/increase for the duration of the contract (usually 12 months) unlike variable unit rate contracts.
Ah something to really benefit the consumer, god no down with that sort of thing!

Fixed rates would generally be higher than regular rates so may not benefit the customer if variable rates don't rise or do fall over the relevant period. Usually you'll be paying a premium for the predictability of the fixed rate.

Now AA membership renewal are the next people on my hitlist.
Check your insurance. Most have an option to add breakdown cover and its a lot cheaper than the AA directly

On Electricity - why not simply switch to Energia? They'll handle the Electric Ireland transfer and it can be in your name only.
Night 16.91, day 30.75, peak 34.54

or a 24 hour rate of 28.10c

It literally takes 5 minutes online once you have your MPRN & Bank Details

Then next year switch back - though energia will then call you and offer you a good deal to stay

Loyalty to energy companies costs you money.

Electric Ireland seem to be the best value for a 24 hour tariff and @Sarah Ryan's usage profile in this case?
Figured out how to download all the data and started with the energy pal site, the Electric Ireland plan is still coming in at the best 24hr unit rate plan based on the info I have supplied.

The majority of my energy usage is during the day time as I WFH so a time of use tariff is no good to me as all the washing / dishwasher / dehumidifier and cooking (this changes based on husband shift to more peak times every 2 weeks of the month) is done from about 9am until lunchtime so the cheapest electricity during that time is what I need.

Their help at a time like that always stuck with me but I guess well, err it's time for us to break up.
You rewarded them for good service.
I stuck with them for too long simply based on some promise they made once that there would never be a reason to switch again because I'd always have the lowest rates or something like that.

AA breakdown is far superior than any breakdown cover on car insurance, it's a non - negotiable for me.

24 hr unit rate showing as 29.70 for me but that is not a bad price. But I would still be missing out on the EI rewards programme which gets me a few extra quid off each quarter.

I wonder can I just move back in with my parents, that sounds like the best idea...... lol!

In most cases it's the same thing, the only time I needed to call the service included with 123.ie cover it was the AA that responded. The AA and others have some of their own staff, but heavily depend on a network of independent garages to provide nationwide coverage.

Key difference is AA cover usually applies to the person, the insurers' options often only cover the specific vehicle. That said, I now have AA cover that came with the car purchase, but it only covers that specific car.

the only time
I ran two classic cars together for about 3 years - I had my own flatbed with them.
Again here I am rewarding good service lol!

But yes the covering person is the godsend, I have had to use it on occasions in other people's cars.

Are you sure about that?
From what I can see on EnergyPal you might be better off with SSE Airtricity (all figures ex VAT):
  • Electric Ireland 24 hour tariff with 16% discount
    • Unit rate: 30.23c
    • Standing charge per day: 63.03c
  • SSE Airtricity 24 hour tariff 30% discount
    • Unit rate: 26.41c
    • Standing charge per day: 66.32c

Are you sure about that?
Yeah I took a screenshot of it,I have it on my computer I only searched under the 24-hour section not the dynamic pricing or time of use?

As well only been searching for dual fuel bundles not separately. Now this is where you tell me that I need to take them out separately lol!

I didn't realise that you were going for a dual fuel contract. The thread title and original post don't reflect that.

On the price hikes, there is no way to avoid though with variable rates?
Need more solar panels!

SSE Airtricity announced price increases today. Electricity unit rates will increase by 9.4%, electricity standing charges by 6.12%, and gas unit rates by 11.6%.
