Charlie Kirk

The Duke watched Last Night at the Proms on the BBC.
There was a fantastic rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody featuring a black lead singer. The conductor for the evening was lady of Asian origin. And the finale of Elgar songs steeped in nostalgia for Britain's imperialist past had almost more Europe blue flags waving than Union Jacks.
What a contrast with the Robinson/Musk obscene performances.

Heard that as well, the implication being he was somehow an extremist. Any conservative leaning in Ireland is now typecast as right wing and deeply unpleasant
RTE news : Conservative influencer Charlie Kirk dead after shooting
es, RTE, and to a lesser extent the Irish Times, have a habit of editorialising the news through a liberal-left wing lens. It's understandable in the case of RTE since they are basically unionised public servants and so will have that group think.
Sorry to hear of his Murder,
I am glad we have not allowed extreme Right Wing to take hold in Ireland Under a so called Conservative leaning Banner,

Just look at the sort of people who would like to become leaders of the so called Conservative Banner IN Ireland,

and the foolish people who are brainwashed into thinking we should encourage these so called conservative values,

The largely left-leaning media have been overall appalling on the reporting of Kirk's death - many bordering on justifying his assassination by repeating untruths.

To give one example, media darling Alistair Campbell said on his widely-viewed YouTube/ podcast that Kirk had said something like, "gay people should be stoned to death."

Kirk didn't say that - or anything remotely like it - and Campbell has since apologised and retracted the comment. But of course far fewer will have seen the apology, as is always the case.

Here's the shrugged-off apology from 7 hours ago on his Twitter/X a/c. (He's warning us about "dis-information" online while spreading it himself when it suits the agenda.)

"Apologies for this. I had seen a clip on social media which did not have the full context, and had seen others making the same claim. The full exchange shows it was a debate about Biblical interpretation, not a call for the stoning of gay people. Kirk did have views with which I strongly disagree but this was not among them. Note to self - especially amid tragic and potentially deeply polarising events, be extra careful about social media, mis- and disinformation."

Author Stephen King posted something similar and has since apologised.

Unite the Kingdom rally

Ariel view of the rally headed by Tommy Robinson.

Anyone who has ever been to Croke Park on All-Ireland day (circa 80,000) will automatically register that this rally is a multiple of the 'estimated' 150,000 being peddled by media and authorities.

A similar type rally was held against the illegal invasion of Iraq and it was reported then that it was up to 1 million marchers.

I see no real difference between the far right and the far left. The imposition of utopian ideals always ends in violence and death. The far left killed way more people in the 20th century than the far right but most of the people killed by the far left were killed by their own government. Our media is correct to call attention to the far right but it does worry me that the far left in Ireland gets a free pass.
Edit: People Before Profit describes itself as a Revolutionary Marxist Party. Those beliefs killed tens of millions of people in the last century. We should be worried about that.

Because people know once a Right wing Government Takes power more than likely it gets control by the extreme right,

Just have a look at what is happening next door at the smell of power,

I would consider myself as Conservative yet when it comes to voting I would not like to see in power a Conservative leaning Government in Ireland listening to the views expressed by people who would like to see a Conservative leaning Government in Ireland,

FG moved to the center left to get away from this element many years ago, leaving behind a Frustrated rump of people no one wants on listened to except to wind them up now and again,
Long may it stay that way,

This is not remotely the conduct of a free speech champion.

Kirk was involved in the setting up of a 'watchlist' of academic staff.
People who espouse their utopian "Ism" (Religious Fundamentalism, Communism, National Socialism etc.) always think that their version of free speech should be allowed but other people's versions of free speech are subversive and dangerous.

Surely the delicious Alison Balsom's farewell performance(s) deserves a mention too?

Do you really think there no watchlists in Ireland ? By all parties...
Do you really think that's the same as what Kirk was doing?
Does FG list theirs on their website?
Has it led to harassment of academics?

So I really think Kirk wasn't any sort of champion of free speech, but a troll.
A racist hate spreading troll who dog whistled derogatory remarks about the processing power of the brains of black women, repeating racist tropes that should have died out decades ago.
