MBNA credit card changed to AvantCard

I'm inferring I can keep paying to the general 90001059 bank account number etc, once I make sure the reference note matches my latest CC number? It does match, as the new card is the same number as the last, just the expiry and CVV changed. Right? Thanks

MBNA credit card changed to AvantCard

Trying all morning to register my card. No joy. It's 'not recognised'. Ranf the number and remained on hold for 12 minutes, at which time a lady spoke to me in a very gruff tone, like I was wasting HER time. I guess they are getting a LOT of calls from angry customers. She told me the website...

    Has anyone used Mortgages.ie

I'd like to shop around to see who would give me a mortgage. I have prepared all of the relevant documents, p60, payslips etc, savings etc. Rather than approach 5 or 6 institutions individually and furnish all this information 5 or 6 times, I'm thinking of just using mortgages.ie to shop...

What is middle income? High earners? Low earners?

What exactly is middle income? Singles who earn average 50k? Couples who earn 100k? Low earners are presumably the minimum wage bracket? 30k or less? high earners I'm guessing well into 6 figures. So much talk using these terms but I never know if there is a direct example of each...

How to check how many penalty points i have. Had two not sure how long they last for?

I got points in June 2009. However, my Irish license was due to expire in Jan 2012 so I swapped it for a 10 year license in an EU country I was residing in at the time. My wife is from there. I have been continuously licensed and insured in Ireland since June 2009, but I bet they stopped...

    joint account for household

drop into your local branch of each bank. I have a similar setup as you describe in your original post. My local UB gave me a uFirst account and waived the fee as an offer they had to encourage local business. Usually fee was 10e a month I think.

    Jury Duty and Self Employed

hehe. Of course I can pay 55cent. I was more concerned about getting the correct address. i.e. address it to the courts registrar I presume. Thanks for your reply. I'll do that.

    Jury Duty and Self Employed

ok. The space on the enclosed form is barely enough for 2 sentences. Is there anything particular to emphasize in that space I wonder? Also, it says to enclose the form in the enclosed pre-paid envelope. There is no envelope in the letter I received. I guess I just write FREEPOST at the top...

    Jury Duty and Self Employed

Hi all, I appreciate the advise in here. For the self employed people who got off, did you just return the form with a 2 or 3 line explanation or did you actually call the Jury office? I am self employed IT contractor and work by myself for myself. Missing even 2 or 3 days would cause me undue...

    Interest on savings; Payment codes?

I get paid quarterly interest on my Ulsterbank Bonus savers account. I noticed that in January the total interest payment came in 3 separate payments on the same day. They had different codes beside the transactions: JAN NET REW RESA REW RESQ All were of TYPE INT. Which is clear...

    Question about Marriage and Taxation?

Thank you Berni. I appreciate that reply. We are both earning over the cut off point for lower tax, so probably best to leave it as for now.

    Question about Marriage and Taxation?

I was on the phone to revenue on an unrelated matter (claiming rent relief) and I referred to "my wife" during the conversation. We got married abroad (in an EU country) in August last year. However, I decided not to bother advising revenue as I understood you can elect to remain taxed as a...

Average savings and income for ~26 year old?

what an interesting thread. I wonder how many people in their 20s are saving 1500euro a month now? I was very surprised to read how many people on the thread are doing so well. I would guess that they are the 5% and the 95% in their 20s have no significant savings, some have no jobs, and some...

    Hypothetical Question if Ireland defaults

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. Certainly some good food for thought there. My own opinion is that we are too tied to the Euro to be discarded or released from it. The Irish govt. certainly has no intention of forcing that route, and the ECB won't want it to happen either. I think I am...

    Hypothetical Question if Ireland defaults

Greetings all, I am a new user and had a hypothetical question. I know nobody can predict the future, and I know any opinions are just opinions and not advice etc etc, but its just a hypothetical. If Joe Soap had 100k in Ulsterbank on a demand deposit account and Ireland decides (or is...
