Pay off mortgage shortfall or continue saving?

It is a bit unusual but then I'm lucky to have a very strong negotiator in the house! We'll keep saving so and see what Brexit does. Thanks for your quick and helpful input.

Pay off mortgage shortfall or continue saving?

Same lender. The mortgage offer isn't enough to buy what we want. There is a discretionary type application which doesn't require the 20% deposit so assuming we have enough with the 30k should we continue to save or start increasing the payoff on the loan? Which would be more likely to...

Negative equity - To move or not to move?

Had a meeting with our bank today and they were very helpful. Discussed situation and the following was the outcome: 1. Their mortgage bank is a 'seperate entity' so would require any loan to be paid in full regardless of how we get the money. There is no carrying of negative equity to a new...

    Student + Work + Entitlements

Sorry about the confusion. When I said I've been working full time I guess I meant every week on average 3 days per week. My basic query is whether I should be signing on for the days that I don't work (which were the days I was in college). A friend had mentioned that as I work 3 days maybe I...

    Student + Work + Entitlements

    Septic tank

Hi all, Looking for some advice re: septic tank. My neighbour is considering applying for residential planning on a farm yard shed site next to my house. I'm just curious as to the distance any dwelling would have to be from my septic tank? Is there a minimum or is it based on the type of land...

Using cavity fill insulation in drylining space??

I have the same question. Old farmhouse with stables converted. Dry lining seems to be stepped away from outside walls as they are irregular. No insulation but the plasterboard is foil backed. Can I fill the void with beads or something similar? Would this cause dampness?

    Mould

Is it possible to fill the gap between the plasterboard wall and the old, solid, stable wall with beaded insulation or does it require a vapour barrier between the two?

    Solid Fuel Stove.

As far as I can remember the flue cost in the region of E40 per metre. I decided to go all the way to the top through paranoia as much as anything else. However in theory it should be easier to clean as a result. With regard to putting a stove in without a chimney there is no problem with...

    Mould

Great to hear from those in the know. I had a crawl around in the attic and it seems like the old walls of the stable are still the old walls of the stable. The stud walls were thrown up on the inside and the stable walls were plastered on the outside. To look at the rooms you would think it was...

    Solid Fuel Stove.

Bought the same oisin stanley in MD o'shea's this time last year. Also bought the flue as part of a package with all the connecting bits which cost over E1000! My builder buddy gave me a dose of abuse and I brought everything back bar the stove! Turns out you can buy all the flues/connectors for...

    Mould

Hi all, I recently discovered mould in the bedroom wardrobe and on some clothes. Add this to the occasional musty smell and a small bit of mould on the underside of the matress. Took the matress outside into the sun which has solved the problem there. I have a dehumidifier in the room which...
