Buying mid-price men's clothing in Dublin.

If you were willing to travel to Carlow, there is a shop called Detail Menswear, you'll get a 3 piece suit, shirt and tie for just under 300. More casual wear too. Great staff and service, we got suits there this year so I'd highly reccommend them, they did any alterations too. Not connected...

    No planning for attic conversion

Depending on when the front facing Windows were installed, you may be able to use the 7 year rule, simple explanation in this blog. [broken link removed] We had a similar issue and our solicitor relied on this to ensure good title and get the mortgage.

    Worth going back to work?

Well that is fantastic that her job is secure, makes a big difference to the decision, now it's just a short term financial hit decision. If it doesn't work out or she doesn't enjoy being at home as much as she thought, she can always return to work sooner. Best of luck.

    Worth going back to work?

From looking at this myself, assuming 10% pension contributions each, 70k single should be €3,550 mthly. 60k single should be €3,170 monthly. 70k as married one income family allowing for transfer of credits is €3,837. So the 60k salary 3,170 - 300 credits = €2,870. Deduct Creche €1,800 =...

Best wood pellet boiler, or just go with oil?

We were in exact same position as you few months ago, having had our wood pellet system for 9 yrs. Got fed up of it acting up and running out of pellets and having a cold house, so we switched to oil and am so happy, just raging i didn't do it sooner. Between the oil burner, timer switches and...

And don't worry about not being able to afford kids, cos hand in hand with kids goes a huge reduction in socialising :), you'll swap all those nights out and new clothes for creche fees

Plenty of income, nothing ever left!

First thing is to get yourself sorted with everything on a spreadsheet, as to me there is something missing. You say you have no travel expenses, so no travel tickets, cars, insurance etc? I'm calculating total expenditure = 3,796 euros per month. So where's the other 1,600 euro going? Monthly...

Maximise AVC's out of savings ?

I have what i think is a similar query, so i thought i'd add it here rather than starting a new thread. I am also wondering if i should be maximising my AVCs instead of just putting money on deposit, or setting up an alternative investment fund. I have a DC pension from my employer (Employer...

Where's the best European beach you've ever been on and why?

Zlatni Rat beach on the island of Croatia - for the most unusual beach with stunning views. Dubrovnik beach - for the gorgeous view of Dubrovnik city walls. Alvor in Portugal - for miles of golden sand with lovely restaurants along the way, and a little marina at the far end.

No days grace on website. late payment . €10 + €1 euro penalty.

I finally got around to logging on to website this morning to pay - and was charged 111 euro: late payment 10 + 1 euro penalty. For such a badly handled & poorly communicated effort, the govt certainly made sure the website was able to promptly collect fees & penalties, without even a few days...

HC tax relief for Stamp Duty and LA Development Charges?

Like many, i am totally against this charge. I paid over 25k already between Stamp Duty & Local Authority fees when we built our house (with part of those LA fees going towards providing amenities in our local area), so i feel like i am double paying for a service that doesn't even exist.

Hi Shasha, Hotel & Residences Il Teatro is where we stayed and we are returning there again this year. They are apartments within a hotel, great location 2 streets back from the beach, overlooking a small square with ice cream cafes on every corner, and 5 mins walk to the waterpark. The...
