Zurich Investment Fund Review

Hi All,

I am just looking for a sanity check on a investment I have since early 2021.

The investment is setup in a Zurich Savings Plan using Prisma 5 (83%) and Top Tech 17%.
AMC is 1.5% on Prisma and 1.64% on Top Tech
Deposits are subject t o 1% goverment levy
  • Current Encashment Value: 42k
  • Current Encashment Value (After Tax): 38k
  • Total Premiums Paid: 33k

Keen for a quick sanity check on the numbers should I be happy with this level of return for the time.

Apologies if a silly question not particulary good with this stuff.

What were you doing with the money prior to setting this up?

Was it a lump sum and regular contribution or is it just regular contribution only?

As long as the tax calculation is correct, Tax is irrelevant.

Return of 42 - 33 = 9

This is a % return of 9 / 33 = 27 %

If we say the period was 4.5 years that gives an annual return of 27/4.5 = 6 % (Note to the purists, the correct calculation gives 6.01%)

A lot better than leaving it on deposit. Nothing like investing in Nvida.

That's correct for a lump sum, not for regular contributions. The return would be lower.
Would the annual return not be even higher for regular premiums than a lump sum as not all the money has been in as long?

(Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet!)

Yes - I got it the wrong way round.

Less time on average = higher annualised return.

If you have a lump sum and/or regular contributions you can calculate the annual rate of return with the XIRR function.

Thanks for the replies so the money is Children Allowance essentially that was sitting in a credit union accumulating up to approx 8k when I strated the Zurich fund.

Monthly deposits averaging contributions are now around 400/500 a month. (this figure fluctuates)

While I would love to trade on the stocks side of things I think the risk exposure side of things would scary me.

I think the generalconsensus here is that the investment is performing OK

Hi @Eng_Girl

That's doing much better than just OK , relative to another provider/product/fund/s in the exact same space.

I don't think the replies went to the bother of comparing like-with-like and you did say in your first post that it was a savings plan.

Both of those funds were in negative territory for a while back in 2022 & 2023

You can create custom date & fund charts here

It was October 2023 that they were in positive territory for any contributions in 2021 and would have been in negative territory of up to15% in mid 2022. Then the bull run started and you saw strong growth and almost all of the gain is from the past 24 months.

Also as the funds are in US dollar denominated equities, the 12% decline in the dollar so far this year has taken the shine off the US market growth of this year for us in Euro land.

But on the positive side, you probably did pick the two best performers over the 4 year period
