What should I do for the next few years before retirement?

I could indeed but you’re right it’d be difficult.

I’m kinda over the whole corporate bs now.

I don’t want to be the ghost of Christmas past sitting in the corner bringing down the mood. If they can replace me and move on it’ll be better for everyone.

No chance of a payout. On principle they’d rather have someone sitting around doing nothing than write a cheque.
Are you sure?

Go to your GP and get certified ill (Stress) for a few months. On your return tell them that you will not be doing that course and you will not be travelling to EU. In fact tell them you are not interested in the new job, based on stress. Reject the new job description, and file an internal grievance with HR.
Consult your solicitor.

lol… do you all work in the same company as me?

Anyway told the senior boss that I’m out… she was lovely…. Team lead is having a melter which he fully acknowledged is his problem not mine… I shall now spend a few weeks emptying my 25 years of accumulated emails and documents.

2 1/2 months but I haven’t officially handed in my notice, just told a couple of people. Including top boss, she was lovely, new Team lead has potential to be a dick so it could be one month if he starts annoying me. My plan is end of November and hes already suggested that 31 December would be better tax wise… not sure how he has worked that out.

Well it definitely isn’t better tax wise working another fully taxed month with no spare capacity for the rest of the year. your best best tax wise would really be to work until April or May next year fully taxed, then get all the tax back to live off for the rest of next year, funding a good extra few months. Although not ideal in your situation.

Yeah I knew he was wrong and I’m pretty sure he did too…I laughed at him and he did look sheepish.

I should check the numbers, maybe leave earlier…
