Hi there, wondering if ye could give me some suggestions for a song to walk up the aisle to! We are getting a local guy to sing/play guitar. Have picked all the other songs but still don't know what to have for the first song. I do not want a wedding march as i would prefer to have him sing something! We are paying him a decent enough amount of money so i don't want to have to stick a CD on for what is in my opinion the most important song of ceremony. any suggestions would be appreciated.

here comes the sun, perhaps a hymn, Liam Lawton does some nice weddingish mass music that you could use. Ask the singer perhaps for a few ideas

How about "I will" by the Beatles. Chorus goes "love you forever and forever, love you with all my heart, love you whenever we're together, love you when we're apart".

Perfectly simple and to the point. Heard it before, fab start to special day

You probably need to ask the guitar/singer person what they can sing/play - some classical type stuff is lovely, but he may not be able to sing it if he doesnt have a particular type of singing voice.

Would you be looking for something classical, acoustic, hymn.....?

I'll give my Best to You - Gwen Guthrie.

It's in a league of its own but dont know how your singer will fare.

It is one of the most beautiful songs ever.

On this our special day
There's something I want to say
Forever come what may
I will do my best for you
All who are gathered here
Bear witness to the love we share
Say I do and hold me dear
And I will do my best
I'll give my best
For our love I'll give my best to you
Now and for the rest of my life
I will give my best to you
I thank God for sending you
A heart of gold and a love that's true
And before the night is through
You will be a part of me
And if some rain should fall
And troubles have our backs to the wall
True love will conquer all and I will do the rest
I'll give my best for our love
I'll give my best to you
Now and for the rest of my life
I will give my best
And when the years fade away
And turn your hair to grey
We'll still be in love this way
I will give my best to you

"Match of the Day" theme tune (think about it) :D

Top Gear theme tune if you're called Jessica.

jhegarty, answer to your question is yes and did you know that the ceremony of Marriage does not have to include Communion even if Bride and Groom are both Catholic!

What about "Here Comes your man" by the Pixies, and have the groom being walked up the aisle instead of the bride :D

2 lines from song:

And before the night is through
You will be a part of me
Does that mean what I think it means? :confused

Walk through this world with me,
Go where I go
Share all my my dreams with me,
I need you so
In life we search and some of us find
I've looked for you a long, long time

And now that I've found you,
New horizons I see
Come take my hand
And walk through this world with me

--- Instrumental ---

Walk through this world with me,
Go where I go
Share all my dreams with me,
I searched for you so

And now that I've found you,
New horizons I see
Come take my hand,
And walk through this world with me

Come take my hand,
And walk through this world with me...

Walk through this world with me - George Jones

Might suit your guitar man better.

only for some pieces - the entrance, exit and signing of the register - all others need to be respectful and in keeping with the ceremony. its not so much the ceremony of Marraige... its a sacrament - and most people opt to have 2 sacraments Marraige and Eucharist or communion but you can have one without the other.

Depends on the diocese your church is in. We had to get all our music approved and it was hymns only
