Transferwise now offering sterling accounts

Transferwise recently said they now have actual sterling accounts, and I applied for one online just as a test, and got an instant account with dedicated account number, real address. I've not used it yet, and I don't know how that account would deal with cheques.

That is very interesting.

I use Transferwise if I need to convert a large sterling or euro payment. But it's in and out, so there is little risk.

I don't know enough about them to leave money in an account? Is there a deposit protection scheme?

Are there charges?
