Thanks very much. I have just updated the irishbankrupt.com blog. I'm sure many people can relate to today's post. Hope you enjoy it.

That last blog was just excellent and very well put. I particularly like your phrase; "They themselves had been pulled out of a hole in 2008 so taking lectures from them was like getting babysitting classes from King Herod". Brilliant

Thanks Prodigy, it's difficult to write about them without lapsing into language that would be unsuitable for a blog. But i'm glad you got the message. Of all my posts i'm sure it's one people can best relate to. The amount of people filing for bankruptcy is a small fraction of the numbers who receive calls and threats from financial institutions.

Told you folks he does have a way with words

Thank you so much for the advice and the pointers. I am currently getting my affairs in order before I take the trip to Scotland. Great blog by the way, it helps to know that there is light at the end of this long tunnel. Keep it up, you're a great source of entertainment and font of wisdom.

Really enjoyed your blog IB2013. Very insightful. I have helped numerous people come to Scotland and can relate to your highs and lows. I can assure you your journey will be more than worthwhile. Best of luck.

Thanks very much for your kind words. As I have said many times on my irishbankrupt.com blog, you would be very foolish to embark on this journey without an adviser who knew what they were doing and has been around the course on multiple occasions. There are many self appointed 'experts' who have never taken a single person through the process so I can't emphasise strongly enough the value of an adviser with the right experience to any Irish person going through bankruptcy in either England/ Wales or through the Scottish system.

Very interesting blog, and also very entertaining! No doubt each individuals experience would be totally different but it's making the most of the situation knowing such a huge financial weight will be lifted at the end of the process allowing you to move on with your life! Good luck

Thanks very much. I am glad you, and others are enjoying it. As you say it's a matter of focussing on the end result and that's what keeps me going. I'm well down the road now so it's just a matter of keeping everything going as I am required to do.

Hi IB2013, just wanted to give you a short update on my progress. I have now made the move across to Scotland and am building my COMI as I write! Thanks again for your blog which has been an invaluabe aid in signposting the correct path to take. In particular, the posts about setting up the bank account was really useful. Having looked at the English system I agree with you that the Scottish option is far easier to get through. I also took your advice re getting a good mobile contract as I am spending a lot of time online. I will continue to update you as to my progress. In the meantime, I hope you are making your way safely through the process, can't wait myself.

Delighted to hear you've started the process. I'm sure you found it a weight off your shoulders to finally take the plunge and get moving.
The next few months will feel slow but these 3 months of building your COMI are a vital step to getting across the line. Without a COMI, you're going nowhere.
Hopefully the blog can continue to provide some assistance to you, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch either here or through the site. Good luck.

Hi Leinster70,

Glad you've made the move and I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I'm based in Scotland and have guided a number of people through the process. If you play by the rules then it should all work out for you fairly easily. I wish you well.

Hi IB2013,

Enjoyed your blog today and delighted that you seem near the end of the process. I can tell that you see the finishing line in sight. Trust me its a great feeling when you receive that Discharge Letter. The end of the road!!

Best Of Luck.

IB2013,

Just thought I'd let you know that I've had another Irish resident awarded bankruptcy today. Started his process in December and made bankrupt today! No court appearance £200 fee and interview with Trustee by phone arranged already for the17th April. His journey back to a normal life is within sight. I've referred him to your blog which I'm sure he will relate to.

Hi IB2013, just read through your entire blog and enjoyed it thoroughly. I will be looking out for all your future updates. Best of luck!

Hi Paddy, thanks very much, I appreciate the feedback. It's good to know that the blog is helping people. I know that when I was considering my options that I would have appreciated something like this.

I will keep it going until I am discharged, on the assumption that I believe I have something useful to say. With blogs such as mine that are focussed on a single issue, there's always a danger then it can descend into a rant and I want to avoid this.

Great news and well done. I get the impression that more people are becoming aware of the Scottish system. As I have said all along on my blog, find an adviser who has been through the process with clients and work with them.
