It is a client's responsibility to ensure their works are completed to the required standard, most people aren't sufficiently knowledgeable or qualified to make that assessment but still don't want to pay a professional to do it on their behalf.

Please tell me that you aren't suggesting that a customer should have to pay a professional, to confirm that the professional they have already paid, has done their job correctly?

If you want an enforceable indemnity against defects and poor workmanship then that is the best approach. The alternative is wait for problems months or years later, pay a professional to assess the nature of the problem and then hope the original business is still liquid for you to potentially chase through the courts at yet more expense with no guarantee of a positive outcome.

There are very few regulated professions in Ireland where there is a formal route to seeking remedy for sub-standard work. For everything else, the onus is on the client to protect their interests.
