Used Monzo today for a payment and topped it up from a 'main' bank. No issues.

From the London Times:It looks like Revolut is not the only company / bank affected. There is a large number of companies affected. The root cause appears to be an outage of the Google Cloud that these companies rely on...
An IT failure at Google’s cloud services business in Europe has caused widespread disruption for a range of businesses.
Problems were reported by customers of several firms, including the banks Lloyds and Revolut, as well as DPD, the delivery company, and Rightmove, the property website.
The issues are thought to have stemmed from problems at a Google data centre in London.
Revolut appeared to be particularly hard hit. The digital-only bank confirmed that “multiple services” had been affected, including card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals, its trading platform and sign-ins, but insisted that “all our customers’ money and data are safe”.
Lloyds said: “Our app is online and customers can log in normally, though we understand some are having issues with certain online services this morning. We are aware of similar issues affecting other organisations and are monitoring the situation closely.”
Google Cloud said that “multiple services are experiencing issues” in the west Europe region in an incident that started on Tuesday morning, leading to elevated errors and intermittent network failures”.
A worldwide IT incident two years ago hit everything from airports to the NHS when a faulty software update from American cybersecurity company CrowdStrike caused millions of computers using Microsoft Windows to crash.
There was also a major outage at Amazon Web Services last year.
Have you gone back to using your bricks and mortar bank
Might be a bit off topic but is there something you prefer about bunq over Revolut or is it more a case of just picking one?God no. I've been using bunq for a good few years now.
Error on login is gone, but seems that a lot of functionality within the app still isn't working. Moving between accounts, etc.Revolut app no longer showing an error message on log in
If Google cloud services are down, then I can't see how they'd be able to issue or push messages via the app.Revolut doesn't at the very least display a message at log-on notifying users......

UK regulators want answers from Google about Cloud outage

The Financial Conduct Authority and Bank of England are pushing Googlefor details of today’s cloud services outage, as they face their first major test as new regulators of “critical” tech suppliers to UK banks.
Both the FCA and Bank of England were handed powers in July to start directly overseeing the local arms of Google Cloud and three other Silicon Valley rivals - Amazon Web Services, Oracle and Microsoft – after being designated as critical third parties by the UK government, as their services become a crucial part of increasingly digital banking services.
A spokesperson for the FCA said they were in touch with Google and seeking more information about the outage. The Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority is also understood to be speaking with the tech firm.
The watchdogs are in charge of ensuring that the cloud providers are resilient and actively reducing the risk of cyber-attacks and major outages like the one experienced today, which has disrupted services for millions of people and businesses across the UK.
For its part, Google is meant to prove it is carrying out proper stress testing, including how it would respond to imagined emergency scenarios that would put their operations under severe strain. They’re also meant to have reported any major incidents, including this power outages, to the two regulators (though it’s unclear in what time frame).
That is true but as I understand it, the reason to outsource to Google Cloud or AWS or Azure is to have proper expertise handle those concerns, rather than BOI, AIB etc trying to do it in-house. That is the promise of these cloud providers, to take those worries off companies shoulders leaving the bank to deal with banking. For too long the banks etc have played hard and fast with IT security, availability and integrity and got away with it, minimising cost and maximising profitability and to hell with the consequences.
The banks are free to run their operations in-house or outsource them, be it to the cloud or another infrastructure provider. That does not in any way absolve them of responsibility for continuity of operations. Governance in respect of outsourced operations (including cloud based solutions) it usually even more complex than in-house operations and requires great effort and expertise, something which Revolut obviously failed to take account of. The decision to outsource is generally driven by cost saving/avoidance more than any other factor. The costs associated with mitigating the inherent risks when outsourcing complex IT environments are rarely understood or taken onboard. That is true but as I understand it, the reason to outsource to Google Cloud or AWS or Azure is to have proper expertise handle those concerns, rather than BOI, AIB etc trying to do it in-house. That is the promise of these cloud providers leaving the bank to deal with its particular focus.
Google appears to be the one at fault here not Revolut.
What exactly do you mean by this?Pretty bizarre that 5 hours after the issues were first reported Revolut doesn't at the very least display a message at log-on notifying users that the functionality of their system has been securely compromised.
I tried a transfer , it came back with "Couldn't connect to server"Seems to be up again
