When we built our house 9 years ago we decided to install a Rayburn 480K oil boiler/cooker.
It heats all our rads and is a fantastic cooker-we've had a few minor problems but nothing to match their latest!
Our service man arrived to do as service, and as soon as he examined the boiler he said 'this looks bad - the boiler is leaking and it is a huge job to fix -t his is a fault with that particular model so much so that Rayburn has had so much bad press with the number of boilers leaking that they will replace the whole unit for about €3,000'.
Needless to say we were shocked. The unit cost IR£3,600 in 1996 and now 9.5 years later we have to spend another €3,000.
There was only a five year guarantee with the original-so we are goosed!
If there is anybody out there who has had a similar experience with your Rayburn I would be delighted to hear how you got on.
