Check your pension payslips. Many retired public sector workers not receiving the March 2% and August 1% and September local bargaining 1%
increases on time. Public sector worker all got the increases applied to salaries in a timely manner yet retirees are subject to months of delays. Reasons quoted are complexity of calculations! Should interest now be applied?

I believe yes some groups negotiated and will receive minimum of 1% initially and further negotiation for next payment. These are individual groups so not sure onn specific cases.

Local Bargaining 1%. “The discussions currently ongoing are focused on the Clerical Officer or grade 3 equivalent roles claim and the Executive Officer, Administrative Officer, Higher Executive Officer or grade 4-7 equivalent roles claim.

Several scenarios have been costed by the Department. Deputy general secretary and head of the civil service division Éamonn Donnelly explained the process, underlining how important members’ involvement is.

He said: “Members shaped these claims through the surveys and consultations we carried out. Now that we have seen the Department’s costings, we need to assess how exactly we can achieve the approach favoured by members, which focused on shortening the journey it takes to move up scales and rewarding long service.”

“After reviewing the costings, it is clear that there are different paths to 1% of payroll costs numerically, and so different scenarios are under consideration. When we have a clear offer on the table, there will be a ballot of members.”

“Right now, we are talking about the Clerical Officer and equivalent grades claim because the scales are identical across sectors so we can take a singular approach. As rates of pay vary between the civil service and public sector for other grades, we may have to adapt our approach with those other claims.”

Over the years I noticed that public sector pension increases are always paid from one to six months after the working group. I haven't received the 1 August rise nor the 1 September sectoral bargaining 1%. The government has to inform the employer department which then has to inform the pension provider. It gets complicated when there are a couple of different pension schemes.

@cbreeze got it right. CS/PS retirees don't receive the 1% or the .0025% cost of living increases for several months in arrears. Thank God we're not crouched at our letter boxes every morning looking out for the postman/postwoman in anticipation.

I believe They have agreement in principle re the 1% and awaiting concrete offer from DPER and then there will be a ballot apparently but do pension recipients receive local bargaining pay increases

Re extreme delays In 2022 Solas, Fas/Solas pension recipients weren’t receiving back pay or pay agreements for several months and a working group was set up with NSSO and Dept of Education/Solas to examine why it took so long to receive the payments. I think there has been some improvements there maybe because the RCPSA Retired members of CS/PS or other groups may have applied some pressure, but it’s laughable that they think that 6 months is a reasonable timeline to resolve under the circumstances which some pension recipients find themselves.

My experience as a CS retiree is that pay increases have always been paid on the first available paydate - it was the same when I worked as a civil servant, pay increases were paid on time.

Timely increases were not my experience during my HSE days!

My understanding is that the scope of the 1 percent local bargaining increase will only be confirmed in early 2026, with arrears back to 01/09/2025 payable.

In the HSE all pension increases should be taking place shortly after existing employees receive their increases. Currently, under the Public Sector Pay Agreement 2024-2026 increases are being paid a month or so in arrears.

SPSPS increases are applied annually once the CPI figure is confirmed.

If your pension hasn't been increased, contact the head office in Manorhamilton or pensions@hse.ie.

That's only applicable to a small number of grades though, so won't apply for some

There was a time when we were getting pay increases within a month! It's about 2 months now on our place.

I remember calculating arrears for pay awards on a sheet of paper, with a calculator that had a reel of paper and coding it under code 922 for basic( not certain about the code). We had to do all the premium pay too. Often we were going back a year or more.

Thansk for that link Fionclaire but from reading it I cannot see an instruction to pay the local bargaining with effect from any specific date .
Do you have any update on that .
Anyway the rest of the public sector should not have been held up because of that issue , it was after all "Local Bargaining"
