What are the most common part time jobs that people who reach retirement age (but don't want to stop working) do?

Where my parents live there are several of the neighbours that are retired and in the process of retiring. Some are not well but of those that are able bodied these are some things they do - note non are paid but are things that keep them busy and interested in society -

Make jewelry, make greeting cards, volunteer in the charity shops in the local town, go to mass and pray for all those that don't, do computer classes and spent several hours practicing. Volunteer in the local hospice and nursing homes and sit with the sick/dying. Book clubs.

My own mum makes jewelry and cards. She would ware the jewelry to town and if someone compliments her on it she offers to sell it to them. She keeps herself ticking over and has made several commissioned pieces. It helps with her arthritis to keep her fingers going and also the brain as she fears losing her marbles. She is excellent at it and will be 71 on Wed.

My mum & aunt both do home help for people in the local area, they go in for a hour or two depending on the needs of the person. My mother gets a local lady up & makes her breakfast two mornings a week. Its win - win for both because of the social interation also. I think it is harder for men to find part time work though, maybe caretaker in school something like that.

one retiree i know lays carpets - a couple of hours a week. many work in charity shops. some have picked up jobs working in afterschool/preschools where they are a real asset to children who don't have access to their own granparents.
we'll all be working til we're 80 so I'm keeping my options open!
