Listening back to some Liveline podcasts there were concrete examples of banking scams. Mostly focused on Revolut and PTSB. They involved customers being telephoned. Calls lasting up to an hour. Gaining trust. Very convincing. Scammers had some prior knowledge, somehow, never clear, of the customers details. They seemed to have the customers phone no, last 4 digits of their accounts. The gist was to persuade customers that there was suspected fraud on their accounts, and the bank was phoning to “help” the customer not lose any money. This somehow involved sending a code on the phone, or an email link. Once the customer click on links or divulged codes the scammer had access to the accounts and emptied them. Prior to this they git customers to delete their banking app.
After the scam it was impossible to contact Revolut and speak to a human being, from a different thread:

Listening back to Liveline there are horror stories about scams this week in relation to Revolut, with many stating they cannot talk to a human being in Revolut.I love the tongue in cheek line at the end !!!!!
