Increase in Sky subscription...

I got the same Tintagel - I assume you have the box you can still record to as well. Just a way to bully consumers into taking the new streaming boxes they would rather you use. I'm going to take the opportunity to cancel my whole package with them and move to Vodafone broadband which is considerably cheaper and I'm going to do without a TV package altogether.

When you cancel your Sky subscription you can still get lots of free channels from that dish and a saorview aerial.

After nearly 30 years of Sky TV I moved solely to streaming channels in March '21 and haven't looked back
Yes there was a very small adjustment period and a couple of times I've missed out on watching coverage of certain live sporting events
But nothing I couldn't find some sort of coverage of on "players" like the RTE one or YouTube.....

On Feb 26 I signed up to Sky Fibre BB which came with Sky Stream which has all the usual TV channels and apart from setting it up and checking it was working I've yet to use for any of my viewing requirements and given what they are going to charge me for this puck when my contract comes to an end next Feb I won't be renewing unless they offer it for free in another package, but I can't see them doing that!!

Once you make the switch and adjust you'll find yourself wondering why you didn't do it years ago :D

Got an interesting letter from Sky this morning, They've "automatically extended the offers on my account" by another year
So from what I can gather I'll get 500GB fibre, Sky stream with Netflix basic till 26/02/28 and ad skipping till 26/08/27 for €45pm
Can't find the T&Cs yet so I don't know if the "annual CPI price increase" will apply next April or after the contract ends in Feb '28

Crazy as it may seem I'm not sure if I'm happy with this,
Does this mean I'm locked into to Sky till Feb '28 or can I cancel the contract on the original expiry date of 26/02/27??

I don't see how they can unilaterally lock you into a new 12 month contract without you agreeing. What does the email say about how you give your consent if you choose to accept?

All the letter says is that they have extended the contract but reading the letter again it does say the is "no new minimum term"
But in the small print it says refer to Sky.com "new 12 month offers" which I can't find on their website

I presume now that they've extended the original contract and added the "no new minimum term" I'm free to cancel any time from the original contract end date or does "no new minimum term" mean I can cancel anytime from now??
The deal itself is not a bad deal in it's self €27pm for for 500gb fibre and €18pm for Sky stream and Netflix and suits us at the moment
But if GoMo fibre @€29.99pm "for life" becomes available in my area I'm gathering I'm now free to cancel Sky and move??

Are you with GoMo for mobile because if not then the price is actually €39.99.

Since it doesn't seem clear from the email I'd be inclined to clarify with Sky customer support.

Yes been with them since the get-go

Yeah, most likely will have to do that but my experience with sky customer support knowing the exact terms of their contracts has been hit or miss
as referenced earlier in this thread, had to get a supervisor to confirm the terms
