Re: Has anyone experience of building an independent stud wall to counter neighbour n
About 30 years ago whilst living in London I had a 'deaf' neighbour who played loud thumping music late at night. No good talking to her, so I built a stud wall 4" inside my bedroom wall. First I took off the skirting, then cut the floorboards about an inch out (to stop vibration). I stuck 3" sheets of styrofoam onto the wall, then 4" fibre glass in the stud wall. Then screwed plaster plank onto the stud, before nailing resilient bar on. Finally, I screwed 1/2"plasterboard, scrimmed and skimmed it. That took most of the noise and ensured a night sleep.
