Anyone got any tips for cleaning shower doors to get rid of soap scum and water marks

Tried lots various things but nothing seems to get them really clean

Any tried and proven suggestions/old wives tales
Thanks

Sounds like what you have is "Glass Cancer"....google it...almost impossible to get rid of unfortunately. There are some specialists products on the market....don't know any names specifically. Elbow grease just won't kick it so save yourself the trouble.

I dont know about glass cancer but my tried and trusted method for cleaning glass is to use vinegar and hot water (or lemon juice and hot water) and to DRY the glass after cleaning and rinsing.

Good tip for after you clean it to prevent reoccurance is to wipe it down with a window squeegee which takes 5 seconds and prevents build up

I keep an old shower puff just for cleaning the door - whilst still in the shower, squirt on a bit of shower gel and give it a good scrub , then rinse well and squeegee...to quote a meerkat, SIMPLES ;)

I use a little limescale blue bottle (Punch brand) and a toothbrush. Better to do it often!!

I have moderately hard water so had limescale problem as well as soap scum. None of the products advertised for showers would shift it. Finally realised I had the solution all along -- Cif (the cream not the spray). Did the trick even without too much elbow grease.

+1
Keeps it clean. The stains come from the water evaporating and leaving a residue. Remove the water and there'll be no residue or need for chemicals again.

Found bread soda good. Stick your damp cloth onto plenty bread soda. Very good to clean kitchen sinks also.

Hi,
My shower doors are the same.
Kids don't rinse them after showers.
Baking soda and a micro fibre cloth is the best thing.
The first time 70 percent will come off and second time they will be perfect.

I have a new shower with a sand blasted section.

This section is very marked and I have tried everything, vinager, lemon, cilit bang, bread soda but cannot make any impression on the marks. Any advice
would be appreciated.

Probably shouldn't but I use Domestos on ours. Perhaps if you tried a very small section in the bottom corner and see if it makes any impression.

I use a steam mop to clean the shower walls and doors and also for the frosted glass in other doors, which is a pain to clean.

The mop I have transforms into a hand-held unit and has a microfibre attachment with a squeegee on it - works perfectly.

Hard water leaves deposits of mostly calcium carbonate, which is chalk. This can be removed chemically using an acid such as citiic acid (found in lemon juice), acetic acid (found in vinegar) etc. According to Wikipedia, Cilit Bang contains a mixture of acids (sulfamic and phosphoric) and having spent yesterday evening cleaning the shower door, I can tall you that it works when a bit of elbow grease is applied.

Baking soda (NaHCO3) on the other hand forms an alkaline solution in water which would be not react with clacuim carbonate. The fact that is seems to work at all is probably due to scouring action, and so is less efficient. I would not use scouring agents on clear glass as it will make them opaque.
