Dun Laoghaire and Dog Poo.

While I empathise with the feelings of frustration (anger as your counsellor/psychotherapist will tell you) expressed above, I'm reluctant to do a "like" on proposed acts of violence. Organising poo-collections and depositing them in the centrally-heated superannuated council offices would seem more appropriate. Get out there and do your jobs. Please, we need more enforcers and fewer paper-pushers. Did I post this before? If not I apologise. :)

@odyssey06 brings up a fair point. But, it is never going to happen that the local authorities will step up to the mark. I don't blame them, they're fighting a losing battle. It's up to the dog owners themselves to resolve the situation. We have two dogs and are responsible dog owners. But, it is the ignorant majority of dog owners who flout the by-laws refusing to clean up after their dogs and also refuse to place muzzles on the breeds which require muzzles. It is obligatory to have dogs on leads while anywhere in public. How many dog owners adhere to the law? - Very few. The responsibility here is on the dog owners to police the situation and not expect anybody else to do so. Let's keep the subject on real terms. Incidentally, us good dog owners are fighting a losing battle.

How are responsible dog owners supposed to resolve or police the situation with regard to the issues caused by delinquent dog owners?

Sounds awfully like leave us alone and we'll sort it out.

The local authorities, the gardaì, the FBI, the contestants in Dancing with the Stars can’t possibly control what is going wrong with walking of dogs. I feel it is up to responsible dog owners themselves to police the situation. I can’t see any other favourable workable solution.

If honourable dog owners can’t deliver the goods, then it’s a poor look-out for all of us dog owners. We need to police this ourselves and it ain’t pretty. Sorry, but it is up to us to bite the bullet and challenge the culprits.

Our local Tidy Towns voluntary workers challenge unresponsible dog owners. Responsible dog owners should be doing this. Unapologetically, I do and I do it in a friendly way. Yes I do get verbally abused, but lepers can take that.
