Have 60 k … from 3 year PTSB deposit account coming to an end shortly
Was thinking re invest for 1/2 years .. what is safest best return at moment thanks

Same as the last time...
... check the deposits best buys.
But each 2/3 year period adds up...
...in which case you might want to think longer term and if the total investment timeframe becomes 5-10+ years, for example, then some form of equity based investment might become an option.

And then there's the proposed SIA which you might want to consider...

I have been told not to start a new post about the same issue which makes sense - I am just looking for a little guidance. Please ignore all previous posts - they were different enquiry at previous times - I am just at the end of an Irish bank 3 year deposit account - I want to invest 35 k of that return - with no risk and max return. I see raisin seems to be the best - see attachment - I have opened a raisin account. I’m old school - it’s a on line bank !! I’m just nervous about putting so much into an account that was completely opened on line a with so many scams out there , and it’s that the best return for a 2 year investment - I am aware DIRT will have to be declared myself that’s ok-

There are great 6 month rates available look for the threads mentioned above and then research and look to park 12k of it in the new SIA. Rollover the balance into another 6 mth deposit and in 2028 park another 12k in the SIA again.

That's what I would do.

I had a raisin account for a couple of years and while I am a bit of a Luddite it was pretty painless. The sepa transfer of the sum can be done in a branch of a bricks and mortar if that is more reassuring in terms of scam. The revenue declaration was all easy too.

Have you looked at the Bankinter 3.3% folks were talking about here? Just opened that and while their app is not great it was not too painless. In terms of nerves you have to decide what you are comfortable with. Are you talking much of a difference in terms of interest on 35K for 2 years? It might be better opening the Bankinter one maybe.

That’s amazing momma , I have just registered for bankinter there , rates are very good ,
I’m very pleased to hear you found it ok the revenue declaration , I was just looking for a little guidance and that is really reassuring ,
Many thanks indeed ,
At a certain age after being used to bricks and mortar banks it’s a little daunting - thanks again

Another thumbs up for Raisin. I’ve used them a lot over the last 3/4 years and my experience is largely (not universally) positive. What I like is the mix of different products/terms. Also, When a deposit matures it’s pretty easy to move it to a different bank/product/term, without having to move the money via external transfers and running the risk of AML blocks.

I much rather it to the one trick ponies (Advanzia, Bankinter, MoCo, etc), although I have used these also. Wouldn’t use BUNQ if it was the last bank standing and wouldn’t recommend it to my worst foe.

What you could do (albeit it’s a bit more work) is deposit a portion of your funds with Raisin, say 10k in a term deposit and €5k in one of their demand accounts. This would get you familiar with the way they operate and allow you to build confidence. And put the balance with Bankinter or whoever else is flavour of the month. Then as time goes on and hopefully your confidence grows you can add to your Raisin portfolio.

Last point. In the last 12 months I had dreadful experience with both BOI and PTSB. In both cases the issues arose when dealing with them online/over the phone. And in both cases subsequent visits to the branches produced less than stellar results leaving me with the feeling that the “security/comfort” of dealing with a bricks and mortar/pillar is a lot less satisfactory than many of us would like to believe.
