Well the subletting was on the side as it's impossible to get accommodation and I needed a place as said child was doing work for me, that tenant said to us he had a load of people looking for places. Frankly I'm amazed he hasn't been given a free flat ..... he's a long time on the list, and I'd bet the wife is on a different housing list ! Sibling doesn't care either about the rent as property needs major renovation and cannot get a different tenant out despite an order from the RTB a couple of years ago.
I had an old council tenant in another city, he moved out and into a flat belonging to a friend of his who got a one or 2, can't remember, free flat and the guy had gone off to South Africa and needed my tenant to mind his new free place. That was about 15 years ago.
I don't fully understand the Homeless Hap or how people are working and getting their rent paid, this never used to be the case that I remember. YEs they used to pay dole and rent from the social welfare office, but now you're working and get HAP. And you stay on the HAP even if you've enough money to pay full rent.
