Wondering if anyone has moved their Amazon Prime sub from UK to IE? A bit of googling tells me this, but they key unknown for me is this bit, so was wondering if people have a view or experience.

Benefits of switching to Amazon.ie
  • Faster, cheaper deliveries: You'll get faster delivery times and a more competitive Prime subscription price.
  • Local focus: You'll have access to the specific Prime Video catalogue for Ireland and partner perks like discounts on Deliveroo and Odeon cinemas.
  • Automatic cancellation: When you sign up for an Irish Prime account, your UK membership will be automatically cancelled and refunded, so you won't be double-charged.

Reasons to keep your UK account
  • Product availability: You may find that certain items are not yet available on the Amazon.ie platform, or that the selection is more limited.
  • Loss of features: You will lose access to benefits like Prime Reading (free e-books) and other specific Kindle books that are not available on the Irish site.
  • Prime Deals: If you frequently shop for deals on Amazon.co.uk, you may want to keep that account to maintain access to those promotions.

The product selection is much more limited, in my experience. Useful to use .ie for things that .co.uk won't ship reliably, like batteries and DE razor blades, but I feel no urge to move Prime over, I'd make the order above €25 instead. No subscribe and save feature either (that I can see), I think, so I'd still have to use .co.uk for that anyway.

As it happens, my good lady wants to buy a new electric blanket in the Black Friday sale and Which recommends this one:-

Zanussi Heated King Fitted Underblanket, 9 Heat Settings, Low Energy & Energy Efficient, Machine Washable, Overheat Protection, 150 x 200 cm, 60W, White ZEKB7003, 2 Year Guarantee

The cost: £51.24 (Amazon UK) or €58.50 (Amazon Ireland) (This means that the Irish offering is about 50 cent dearer.)

But the Irish one will be delivered on Monday, whereas the UK one won't arrive until Wednesday. So that's a narrow win for Amazon Ireland!

Assuming it will be delivered on the specified day...

I ordered an item from the .IE site last Thursday, delivery date was Monday (I've got prime). It didn't arrive on Monday, best estimate they then gave me was "before Friday 14th".

It was delivered on Wednesday

Hello,

I haven't moved from the UK to Irish service and won't be doing so, any time soon.

I'm far from convinced that moving to the Irish site brings me any positives, while I see negatives, like more expensive prices on the Irish site and less items available.

I moved over to IE and I'm very happy with the delivery times generally. This week I ordered something I ran out of at about 9pm and received it 2pm the next day.

Moved over to ie too and generally happy enough, not quite the deals on some items, a lot of toiletries etc are German only, but it’s cheaper, so saved money and not missed anything major yet. Some of uk good offers now coming up in searches also. Eg got 24 toilet roll and 8 kitchen roll via Amazon uk yesterday but on .ie prime

Another benefit of Uk prime is that other Amazon accounts in the same household also share the prime benefits, whereas with Amazon.ie prime it’s one user only (it is a bit cheaper though) .

Just ordered an item from spain at €180 inc delivery when IE was coming in at €209 with "free" delivery.
Can I ask how you managed to get delivery ? When I go in to a Spanish price it states doesn't deliver to Ireland or is it a case I need to choose the Irish flag and they ship it from somewhere else ?
Edit: Think I figured it. I click on the cheapest price and if they don't deliver to Ire then try the next cheapest country.

I'm happy with .ie. I ordered a gift-wrapped book for BIL on Monday and much to his and my delight it was delivered yesterday.

Other items ordered on Monday, stocking-fillers for the grandchildren, were delivered this afternoon with the exception of a Lego item (see below) and a little card game which are scheduled for delivery next week.

Going well for me at any rate.

Ordered a book last Thursday afternoon and it arrived at my parents place on Saturday morning. Can't fault the irish operation.
