Payment not being applied to reduce principal on a variable mortgage

Thanks. Yes, the daily rate. I'm used to dealing with loans and interest for work, just not on a daily basis., but over the life of the loan. The only question remains is if they are allowed to ignore an amount that's paid early if specifically told for it not to reduce the principal. I may...

Sorry, I messed up the quotes, I meant to add to the above response. ^^^

Payment not being applied to reduce principal on a variable mortgage

I think I've inserted the relevant quotes. Hello Brendan, Yes, I'm sure. I did the calculations myself (Interest based on Principal with and without reducing by lump sum) - I sent them to Pepper also. It is INBS. Clamball has it right, Pepper said (I'm at work, paraphrasing) we didn't know...

Payment not being applied to reduce principal on a variable mortgage

Hi, yes the ombudsman has jurisdiction. I'm at that stage with the VF already. Final letter issued and I can go to the ombudsman. Wondering what others think about the situation - not having lump sum applied to principal.

Vulture fund, I've been with them for 6/7 years. Never sold on.

Payment not being applied to reduce principal on a variable mortgage

Hello, The loan is a mortgage, but I thought this was still the best place to ask this question. I paid a lump directly into my mortgage account and assumed that it would automatically reduce the interest accruing. I since found out it wasn't. I'm at the stage where I have the final letter...

    Regulation of Vulture fund (Shoreline/Pepper)

I believe I can prove I have been overcharged interest by Pepper (Shoreline) - If I believe (can prove) this is the case who do I contact, assuming I get no joy from Pepper to get resolved? Surely, if someone like Pepper can affect your credit rating then surely they are accountable to someone?

    Slander

For something to be slanderous it needs to be said to a third party and to be untrue. The above MAY fall into that category. BTW, re threatening to sue for slander. It's a bit like pulling a gun in the old west. Only do it if you fully intend to use it. On that score I'd be in agreement with...

How much will the bank bailout eventually cost?

And that would have exacerbated the situation. If tax intake (not the same as higher taxes I know) it would have lessened the impact.

How much will the bank bailout eventually cost?

Unfortunately, our borrowing (debt levels) shot up very quickly over a short period of time, significantly greater than just the bail out amount. That amount wasn't to fund infrastructure, but (high?) Public Service pay rates, pensions and social welfare.

How much will the bank bailout eventually cost?

You cannot treat our GDP like most countries. Our National debt has significantly increased. But, the annual effect is the interest we're paying. I'd love to know what annual interest we're paying now on a much larger debt (with cheaper finance costs) compared to pre crash with lower debt...

How much will the bank bailout eventually cost?

If you buy a car that costs €20,000 on finance and the total you pay back is €22,000. It cost you €22,000 to purchase the car. You may want to discount the payments by inflation, but finance costs are going to be higher than inflation, so you'll still have paid more than €20k no matter what way...

    Accountant without a Practising Cert

You could resign from your professional body and then do the sideline gig. Not that I'd recommend it.

    Accountants rates?

Hello, Is your accountant finalising and filing accounts or is he actually auditing them. With a €800k turnover you'll most likely not need an audit, unless you're claiming government grants etc. An audit will take considerably more time and has more responsibilities. If an audit is not...

Employer getting stroppy because I am giving 1 month's notice, although the contract says 2 months!

Can't believe some of the responses here. A minority to be fair. OP, There's a very good reason your new employer did not ask your current employer for a reference. It was your current job and convention means they are not contacted. What happens when you leave your new job? Your next...

I'm rich, I'm rich! Seldom seen AIB dividend cheque

They're actually geniuses hah! Bit of a joke really. Costs the banks more to send (postage, stationary, admin) than customer will receive. The bank charge to lodge will be greater than the income. Is this Waterford Whispers banking.

ICB - Has record of missed payments with INBS disappeared?

... no longer existing? I had a few missed payments, and then transferred to IBRC/Pepper and this was fixed in time, regardless of bringing up to date with Pepper. The scheduled deletion date was June 2019. However, I was very much pleased and surprised that my credit rating has been cleaned...
