Tax implications of renting property for part of year

This is probably a very basis question but if you rent out a property for only part of the year, I assume you can only deduct costs for that part of the year only? e.g. part of management fees, part of interest paid on mortgage? And pro rata for any capital expenditure? Thanks.

CAT...does it matter who paid the mortgage?

I will try and make this as straightforward as possible. Couple bought a property and split shortly afterwards. He paid entire deposit and renovation costs and all mortgage repayments. Essentially, she stayed there until she moved on and she signed over her half of the house. Her half of House...

Gift tax on transfer of property

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere. My friend bought a house with his ex in late 2013. They were never married. He paid the entire deposit. They were joint owners and had a joint mortgage. A few months later they split up and he applied for a new mortgage on his own and the house was...

I recently went interest only on my mortgage for a 2-year period to give me a chance to clear some unsecured debts. I wrote a letter to AIB outlining why They replied saying okay but asking me to write to confirm I wanted to go ahead, which i did. They didn't need me to get new mortgage...

Top up or go interest only?

I have decided to do interest-only - I don't think it's a good time to be taking on more debt. So, another question, does anyone know what I need to do re. mortgage life insurance? I have a policy with Hibernian - do I just call them & ask them to 'freeze it' at current amount? Thanks.

Top up or go interest only?

[/FONT] I know, but if I top up I'm gonna lose it. That's definite now. Not an option I'm afraid....already 2 of us there (me & my son) My biggest concern is that even if I do go interest only for 2 years, I still won't have enough time to clear my debts. If I do the top-up, at...

Top up or go interest only?

Drat - just checked with bank & the tracker they were prepared to give me is "no longer available" and they'd move me onto the SVR - currently 3.45%. I think that going interest only might be the better option & work really hard to clear other debts in 2 years (or less)? I don't want to lose...

I was with MBNA. They signed me up for payment protection on my card even though I said I didn't want it. Took months for them to sort it out.
