Health Insurance Health Insurance renewal - Single, 40, Male

Thanks. I've had a browse through them and done the compare. There are just so many to go through and it's very hard to predict what you might need. I'll try and step up from the cover I have anyway as that doesn't really seem to cover very much at all.

Health Insurance Health Insurance renewal - Single, 40, Male

Hi, My health insurance is up for renewal shortly. I'm currently with Laya on the Assure Vitality scheme. I have been for a few years now and never really considered it much. Having turned 40 this year I probably should start to consider better options. I'm single, male, 40 with no known issues...

    Affordable Home mortgage switch

Hi Malahide, It was just a straight forward letter to EBS to switch to the fixed rate. The issues are with switching lender. AIB outright refused to accept my switch once they heard about the Fingal CC clawback.

    Affordable Home mortgage switch

Thanks Maddie. This explains why AIB wouldn't accept my switching application so.

    Affordable Home mortgage switch

I tried switching to AIB late last year but once they heard about the Fingal CC chargeback they said they would simply not proceed. I tried explaining that they could not lose as the switched mortgage amount was less than what the Fingal chargeback amount kicked in at, but was told it was not up...

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

Thanks for the suggestion Laramie but I'm not overly interested in becoming a landlord longterm anyway. Plus I'd need the deposit from the sale to purchase a new property.

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

Thanks for the input Catherine. I find it very interesting the amount of accidental landlords who all seem to say I'd be better off selling up. It'll be a couple of months before I have to make a final decision on what to do. I guess ideally I'd be ready to move on a property straight away in...

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

Ah Ok, thanks. That makes sense now. As you can see I'm very naive on this whole process. But the concise, accurate replies on here have made things clear. It seems my main issue so would be if house prices inflated I could be at a loss versus the hassle of being a landlord.

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

Thanks Easel. This is going to sound like a really stupid question but i'll ask anyway. When I took out my mortgage first I was paying an enourmous amount of the interest in the first few years. The banks front load interest payments. The last couple of years (I'm 9 years into my mortgage) I've...

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

Thanks for the replies. I should have said my mortgage is SVR with EBS. I know I should move from them anyway but only recently realised how much out of negative equaity I am. Cremeegg, when you lay it out as you have it seems I'd be very foolish to sell now and be trying to buy elsewhere a...

Sell now and buy a year later or rent out apt for year

I'm hoping for some advice. It is about the often posted 'Should I sell or become an accidental landlord?' I am in the process of getting a job transfer to Galway from Dublin. I bought an apartment in 2008 under the AHI and paid 270K for it. I have 210K left to pay on the mortgage. I could sell...

BoI Change Free Banking Conditions Again (November 2012)

Thanks Pator...I probably should have read the previous posts more carefully to see the date it is starting on. Some how I had Nov 1st in my head. I'll check what my annual statement says. I met the citeria previously for no charges so it was of no concern to me. Cheers

BoI Change Free Banking Conditions Again (November 2012)

Quick question on this. I haven't got any notification of this and no transaction fees appear on my online account. Does this mean I'm not being charged? or are the fees only shown at the end of the quarter. I don't want to ring and ask BOI incase they cop on that I'm still marked as a graduate...

    4wd wheel alignment test

Mathepac, Thanks for your help. Boss got it done somewhere before and wasn't happy with what they did. Any recommendations for a place that is good?

charlestown, finglas. I like the appartment, but feel a bit rushed into the decision.

Re: charlestown, finglas. I like the appartment, but feel a bit rushed into the decis Cassandra, Some people might think this is unfair but you could accept, put the deposit down and then have a think about it for a week or two while confirming loan approval etc. If you decide against it I am...

    4wd wheel alignment test

Hi, My boss in work wants to get our Isuzu 4wd drive wheels tested for alignment. Our tyres do tend to wear on the edges very quickly. He says it need a specialist to check them and not just a regular wheel alignment test. Is this true and can anybody recommend someone on the north side of...

    Mortgage Interest Rates

LFC, Can I ask what bank is raising rates tomorrow? Like you I have signed but not drawn down and a small delay looks like i won't get this wrapped until next week now. My mortgage is with EBS so I'm hoping they won't raise before that

    Ballybrack/Shankill

Hi, My sis and family have lived in Bayview, which is right between them, for nearly six years now and is very happy. Never any trouble. I lived with her for about 18 months and it was great. Lovely neighbours and the dart is about 15-20 min walk, 2 min drive.
