is Airbnb more lucrative than a long term let?

We have had a brilliant tenant in a one bedroom apartment for about five years. He's leaving at the end of the month. We kept rent a bit lower than others in the area as he was so reliable.
Anyway am now thinking of switching to Airbnb. Management company do not preclude Airbnb.
I saw another thread on askaboutmoney about this recently and posted but my questions are more specific.
I've done a bit of research and there are a couple of companies who manage the letting and provide cleaning services. They take a 25% cut of pre tax profit.
Has anyone used these services for an Airbnb let and what was your experience?
Secondly, did you find Airbnb more lucrative after tax than a traditional long term let? (We are taxed at higher rate-paye)
The apartment is 15 minutes walk to ifsc so a good location.
Was cash flow an issue? I know you can claim back heat, electricity etc?
Would be interested in hearing experiences.

I had posted there but there was no further response. Maybe threads couldbe jjoined?
