Electric gate - cheapest option?

Got quote from installer for overground system. Including keypad, intercom & 2 zappers and installation - €2,600.
For €400 extra they provide wireless intercom - i.e phone that can be carried around house, no cabling required.
They use Faac technology which they say is the best around.
How does that sound?

Roadrunner,

There is lots of different FAAC overground equipment. The choice of overground actuator depends on your gate size and usage. Do you know which FAAC unit they are going to use. Is the price inclusive of v.a.t. and are they cabling from the house to the gate ?
What is the size and type of gate you have?

Roadrunner,

£629 + v.a.t @17.5% + shipping + additional transmitter. You wont have much change out of €1000.00.
You have to add a keypad €170, Intercom €150 and then your labour. You will obviously have to carry the warranty for the parts yourself where the installer would carry this as part of the €2600.

You will need to be sure that the electrician is competant and has experience in this equipment.

There will, or may be a saving but it's a piece of mind thing.

Got a quote from a local electrician for supply and installation of an underground electric gate kit. The price is €2,100 and this includes an intercom attached to our phone line with a phone in the house and it also includes all cables including running the cable from the house to the piers and 2 zappers, keypads etc. The system he is recommending is BFT! Is this a good price.
