Car Insurance And Selling Used Items

Hello,

I would like to better understand the scope of the category Social, Domestic and Pleasure Purposes (SDPP) when selecting car insurance.

I have three theoretical scenarios.

1. Purchase an item in the shops and deliver to a relative during a social visit, getting paid for the item.

2. Place an occasional, say about four times a year, classified ad for an unwanted used item such as, e.g., a pressure washer. Deliver to the address of the respondent and get paid.

3. Place an occasional ad, again about four times a year, on a website such as Ebay or Ebid, without a webshop or being listed as a trader, for an unwanted used item. While shopping transport the item to the post office in order to have it shipped.

In none of these cases is a registered trading business in operation, goods are not being purchased for resale purposes, and no profit is being made. Is SDPP sufficient for each of these transport operations, or is a higher level of insurance required ?

Thank you.

If the items are yours and you are selling them via done deal or the like then an SDPP use is fine IMO. If you are delivering for another, its a different ball game..
