Zafira problems

I bought a brand new 07 Zafira three years ago and it gave up the ghost three weeks ago. The Engine ECU is gone I'm told and it will cost over €1,600 to have it replaced - labour to find out what was wrong with the car, the price of a new ECU and the cost of labour to fit it.

Anyone else had a problem with the ECU in their Zafira? Can't afford to get the car fixed so now carless and no satisfaction from the garage I bought the car in or OPEL. Cannot recommend OPEL or Zafira to anyone after this experience.

I haven't heard great things about the Zafira ... even from a friend who worked for an Opel dealership back in the day. How about trying to source a second hand ECU? ECU's can also be repaired sometimes ... though whatever route you take it's not going to be 'cheap'. There are bound to be a number of rear - ended Zafiras in the scrapyards with ECU's for purchase ... though better to make sure it's the same version / year etc.
