Hi Someone here may have some knowledge. I cannot get through to ROS - wait time has been 90mins plus since I started to contact them and am trying to work at the same time.
My son went on a two year work visa to Canada in early Aug 2023 and returned in early August 2026 (extended while on implied status). He had an amount of youtube content creator monies coming in to an Irish account for that time.
When filing returns to ROS is he considered non-resident for the years 2024 and 2025 (I think he is ok for 2023 with resident days and for 2026 will be back in the PAYE system so can de-register with ROS and add it onto his PAYE return as additional income). If considered non-resident for 2024 and 2025 does he lose the personal tax credits and have no free tax allowances? ( He did not work in a PAYE job in 2023 in Ireland before he left for Canada and had only just registered with ROS before he left. He only started working in Canada in July 2024 paying taxes there.)
Any advice welcome as I cant see how I can speak to anyone in ROS. Have sent a query last week but haven't heard anything back yet. Many thanks.
