Hi just wondered if anyone had advice or experience of being wrongly accused of shoplifting. A colleague was followed out into the carpark of a large store and asked to return to the store. There they were accused of taking a small item and not paying for it? However the truth was she had lifted the item, examined it and placed it back and left the store as it wasnt what she wanted. She was mortified to be accused like that and I think she should follow up on it? Any guidance welcome thanks:)

I assume she returned willingly to the store when asked in the carpark? If it's an innocent mistake, are you wondering should she sue the shop or something?

There was a recent case like this and the person got nothing. The problem was the willing going back inside the shop.

There was a long thread on legal over on boards.ie if you have the time to search.
