Working in Saudi

Neighbour wants to go to Saudi for two years on a contract.
Anyone know what the tax position is?
If she pays tax out there will she have to pay again in Ireland when she comes home?

My understanding is there is no tax payable in Saudi. As your friend is tax resident in ireland for three years after leaving Ireland I think she will have to declare this income and be taxed on it in Ireland (could be totally wrong here)

Saudi is tax free and unless you declare it here you won't pay tax, when you restart work here you simply say you were "interrailing" for a while.

interrailing? sounds a bit dodgy!

regarding foreign salaries provided you are non irish resident but ordinarily irish resident (3 year rule) you will not be liable to irish tax on a salary received from an employment exercised outside the state.

please see this post
