Hi All

I'm about to start into a new build and am presently looking a various heating systems. I would like to hear if anyone has had any experience of wood gasification boilers?

My neighbor has one that takes 1 meter long logs and has a 10,000 liter storage tank. Currently fuel is a little issue as his forest is not old enough. House is still not fully complete but I could ask him about it if you want.

Please ask your neighbour.

I'm also interested in wood gasification and I'm trying to find out as much info as possible.

There's a thread on boards.ie that you might find of interest.

What I know so far about this installation is my neighbour did not want to be dependent on oil and planted a diverse forest around his home to supply fuel into the future for his boiler. The boiler and storage tank are located in a purpose built shed outside the house and the storage tank I believe is a 10,000 liter. This tank is huge and must be at least 8 foot diameter. The size of the boiler and tank depend on the house size and efficiency. His house is a large and a renovated stone structure so would not be as efficient a home as a new build. He would also have solar and some wood stoves within which are also linked. The idea with the gasification boiler is to fire it every 1-2 weeks to heat his water storage tank which inturn heats the house. He has under floor and rads throughout the house but the house is still not fully finished so its still a bit early to get his opinion but so far he is happy
